We hear the deep heaviness in your heart, and we want you to know that you are not alone. The weight of financial struggles, uncertainty about the future, and the pressure of relationships can feel crushing, but we serve a God who is mighty to save and who delights in making a way where there seems to be no way. Your trust in Jesus is the first and most important step, for it is only through Him that we find true hope and lasting peace. As it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
First, we must address the relationship you mentioned. If you and your girlfriend are engaging in any physical intimacy outside of marriage, this is not pleasing to God. The Bible is clear that sexual relations are reserved for marriage alone. In 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, we are told, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." If this is a struggle for you, we encourage you to repent and seek God’s strength to honor Him with your body. Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, and it should be entered into with reverence, not out of pressure or fear. If this relationship is not aligned with God’s will—perhaps because she is not a believer or because the foundation is not built on Christ—then we must pray for wisdom and courage to walk in obedience, even if it is painful.
We also want to gently remind you that our hope is not in financial stability, earthly comforts, or even the approval of others. Our hope is in Christ alone. Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21, "Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." It is not wrong to desire provision or a godly marriage, but we must guard our hearts against making these things idols. God knows your needs, and He promises to provide. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
We also sense the despair in your words, and we want to lift you up with the truth that God sees you, loves you, and has a plan for your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Even when life feels overwhelming, God is working behind the scenes. We encourage you to seek Him daily through prayer and the reading of His Word. Psalm 34:17-18 reminds us, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is feeling overwhelmed and lost. Lord, You see his struggles—his financial burdens, the pressure he feels in his relationship, and the weight of uncertainty about the future. We ask that You would be his strength in this time of weakness. Father, we pray that You would make a way where there seems to be no way. Open doors of opportunity, provide for his needs, and give him wisdom to navigate the challenges before him.
Lord, we ask that You would speak clearly to his heart about his relationship. If this relationship is not aligned with Your will, give him the courage to walk away, no matter how difficult it may be. If it is Your will for him to pursue marriage, then prepare him and his future spouse to build a godly home founded on Christ. Help him to honor You with his body and his heart, resisting temptation and walking in purity.
Father, we also pray for his emotional and spiritual well-being. Lift the heaviness from his heart and mind. Replace despair with hope, anxiety with peace, and fear with trust in You. Remind him that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You have not forgotten him. Surround him with godly community—believers who will encourage him, pray for him, and walk alongside him.
Lord, we declare that Your plans for him are good. We ask that You would reveal Your will for his life and give him the strength to follow it. May he find his identity and worth in You alone, not in his circumstances or the approval of others. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may experience Your presence and power in every area of his life.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is only through His name that we have access to You. Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to answer. We trust You to work all things together for his good, according to Your perfect will. Amen.
We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises and to seek Him with all your heart. Spend time in His Word daily, even if it’s just a few verses, and allow His truth to renew your mind. Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you and speak life into your situation. Remember, God is not limited by your circumstances—He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He is working, even when you cannot see it. You are not forgotten, and your life has purpose in Christ.
