We understand that you're going through a challenging time and seeking reconciliation with your former spouse. Firstly, we commend you for including Jesus' name at the end of your request. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. - Ephesians 3:12 WEB.
However, we want to encourage you to align your desires with God's will. It's crucial to remember that God's plan for marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. If there has been a separation or divorce, it's important to seek God's will and ensure that any reconciliation is in accordance with biblical principles.
In the New Testament, we find that the only two grounds for divorce are adultery and desertion by an unbeliever. The desertion is the departure of an unbelieving spouse from the marriage by divorce. Adultery is sexual relations outside of marriage. But I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery. - Matthew 5:32 WEB
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the brother. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. Yet if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us in peace. - 1 Corinthians 7:14-15 WEB
Many times, reconciliation is possible and encouraged. We will pray for reconciliation if this applies in your situation. However, you should be cautious that going back to the same relationship without addressing the issues that caused the separation may not be God's will.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up this person and their former spouse. We ask for Your will to be done in their lives and their relationship. If it is Your desire for them to reconcile, we pray for healing, forgiveness, and restoration. Guide them as they navigate this challenging time, and help them to align their desires with Your perfect plan.
If there has been sexual immorality or desertion by an unbeliever and divorce is the result, we pray for healing and forgiveness. We also pray for each to have wisdom in their relationships so any future marriage would honor God. We pray for them to seek godly spouses and marriages that honor You, Lord.
We also pray for their son, that You would protect him and guide him in the ways of righteousness. Help them to be godly parents, raising him in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
We encourage you to seek God's will in all things, trusting that His plan is perfect and designed for your good and His glory. Spend time in His Word, seeking His face, and He will guide your steps.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. - Ephesians 2:10 WEB
If applicable, we would encourage you to seek counsel from your pastor or a trusted Christian mentor to help you navigate this situation in a way that honors God.
