We understand the deep ache of a broken heart, and we lift you up in this season of healing, knowing that the Lord is near to those who are brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Your desire to grow closer to Jesus and become more like Him is beautiful and pleases the Father, for He is the one who begins and perfects our faith (Hebrews 12:2). We commend you for seeking His transformation in your life, especially as you prepare for the godly marriage He may have in store for your future.
Yet we must gently but firmly address something critical: your focus seems to linger on the past relationship, and we want to lovingly remind you that your identity and hope are not found in any earthly relationship—even one that felt promising—but in Christ alone. If this man was not a believer, or if the relationship was not centered on pursuing marriage in a way that honors God, then it was not the Lord’s will for you to remain in it (2 Corinthians 6:14). The pain you feel is real, but we pray the Holy Spirit will redirect your heart toward the truth that Jesus is enough. He is the one who binds up wounds (Psalm 147:3) and who promises to never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).
We also notice that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus, and we must emphasize that there is no other name under heaven by which we are saved or through which our prayers are heard (Acts 4:12). It is only through faith in Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection—that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no peace apart from Him.
As for your flaws, take heart: Jesus does not call us to fix ourselves before coming to Him. Instead, He calls us to come as we are, broken and in need of His grace. It is His Spirit who sanctifies us and molds us into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18). Rest in that truth. Do not strive in your own strength, but surrender daily to His work in you. Study His Word, pray without ceasing, and surround yourself with believers who can encourage you in this season.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift our sister before You, asking that You would be her comfort and her peace in this season of brokenness. Lord, guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), and remind her that You are sovereign over every detail of her life—including this heartache. We pray that You would heal her completely, removing any bitterness, resentment, or longing for what was lost. Replace it with a deeper love for You and a trust in Your perfect plan for her life.
Father, we ask that You would reveal to her any areas where she has placed her hope in man rather than in You. Convict her if she has idolized this past relationship or if she has allowed her worth to be tied to it. Help her to see herself as You see her: redeemed, beloved, and chosen (Ephesians 1:4-5). Give her the strength to release this season into Your hands, trusting that You are preparing her for something greater—whether that is a season of singleness devoted to You or a future marriage that glorifies Your name.
We pray too that You would surround her with godly community—sisters and brothers in Christ who can speak truth into her life, pray with her, and encourage her to keep her eyes fixed on You. Protect her from the enemy’s lies that she is unworthy or that her future is bleak. Remind her that You have plans to prosper her and not to harm her, plans to give her hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would prepare her now for the man You may have for her—if it is Your will. Make her a woman of prayer, a woman of Your Word, and a woman who seeks Your kingdom above all else. If there is a godly man in her future, let this season be one of preparation so that she may enter marriage whole, holy, and fully surrendered to You. But even if marriage is not Your plan, help her to find her fulfillment in You alone.
We rebuke any spirit of despair, loneliness, or fear that would try to take root in her heart. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command those spirits to flee, and we declare that she is covered by the blood of Jesus. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let her joy be made complete in You.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
