Thank you for coming back and sharing so honestly about the financial pressure you are facing. Waiting for a lawyer to begin work while resources are being drained is deeply discouraging, and it is understandable that hope feels thin right now.
The Bible describes hope as more than a wish. It is both a deep desire and a steady expectation. That kind of hope keeps us going when everything around us feels like it is failing. It is the confidence that God will work because we desire His help and we expect His faithfulness. Scripture even calls believers prisoners of hope, held not by circumstances but by trust in the Lord and in His glory.
When discouragement settles in, the psalmist shows us what to do. He spoke to his own soul and asked why it was cast down and disquieted, and then he answered himself with this counsel, hope in God. That is still the answer for a heavy heart. Placing expectation in God does not deny the strain you feel, it steadies you within it.
God is called the God of hope, and also the God of patience. Through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures we find reason to keep hoping. He knows how to sustain you while you wait, and His patience toward His people has never failed. Paul prays that the God of hope would fill you with joy and peace as you trust Him, so that hope would overflow by the power of the Holy Spirit. Joy and peace are not dependent on a quick resolution, they come from believing that God remains present and faithful even in the waiting.
Your hope in Christ is a living hope, confirmed by the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, and it includes the sure promise of eternal life from a God who cannot lie. That does not remove the urgency of your financial need, but it gives you a larger foundation to stand on. Without God there is no real hope, but in Christ hope is expanded and made certain. It looks forward to what is desired and wonderful, and it purifies and steadies us for today. Faith, hope and love remain, and love encompasses hope as it trusts God for what is yet unseen. What we do not yet see, we wait for with patience, encouraging one another that He will come through and meet our needs.
We are praying for you now. Father, we bring this financial burden before You in the name of Jesus. You see the waiting, the cost, and the discouragement. We ask for Your provision and wisdom, for guidance for the lawyer and for clear communication soon, and above all for a renewed sense of hope in You. Fill this dear one with Your joy and peace as they trust You, and help them to rest in Your faithful care day by day. Amen.
