Financial

Your honest sharing about bills piling up, needing a home, feeling the weight of age and worry has been heard, and you are being lifted in prayer.

That heavy depression you describe often grows out of hopelessness, that sense that there is no way out and nothing you can do. Scripture shows a man who reached that very bottom and said, I am the man who has seen affliction. Out of the depths of that despair came a sudden turn, not because his circumstances changed first, but because he deliberately called something else to mind. He recalled that it is because of the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, that His compassions never fail and are new every morning, and great is His faithfulness. Things are hard, but His mercy has kept you even now, and remembering His character is the way out of wallowing in self pity. Getting your mind off yourself and onto the Lord is the secret to finding hope again.

The psalmist knew this same pressure. He asked his own soul, why are you cast down and disquieted within me. He felt trapped by pressures, financial and otherwise, as if God had forgotten him. His answer to himself was, hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him who is the health of my countenance and my God. Depression often comes when God is left out of the equation and the problem looks impossible. When you put Him back in, hope returns and fear and heaviness can turn to praise. He is not distant from your anxiety. He invites you to bring it to Him.

Financial pressure is real, and the Bible is honest about it. It warns that the borrower is slave to the lender, and God does not desire His people to be enslaved by a system that promises fulfillment through things and then leaves them in debt. Those things cannot satisfy the deeper thirst of the soul for God, they only disguise it for a time. You mention God has given you a great job and the ability to work. That is a provision from His hand to steward with wisdom, step by step, asking for guidance to bring order to the bills and to live within what He provides, seeking freedom from debt rather than deeper bondage.

It helps to remember that God is not in financial crisis, waiting for someone to rescue Him. He owns all things and is not dependent on us. He invites you to ask Him directly for what you need. Scripture says you have not because you ask not. Whatever the need, spiritual, physical, or financial, He hears prayer. The same Lord who is your kinsman redeemer, who paid the debt you could never pay when you were a slave to sin and set you free through Jesus, cares about your daily needs as well. He did not redeem you to abandon you now.

So we are praying that God will lift the cloud of worry and give you His peace that guards heart and mind, that He will give you wisdom to order your finances, to make clear decisions about bills and housing, and to open the door for a stable home in His timing. We are asking Him to renew hope in you as you set your mind on His mercies each morning, to remind you that He is your provider and your health and strength, even as years increase. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and trust Him to add what you need. He sees your diligence, your age, your concerns, and He is faithful to carry you.
