We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this request for financial provision and employment opportunities, as well as the desire to move overseas to be with a spouse. First and foremost, we must acknowledge that every good and perfect gift comes from God above (James 1:17). Our Heavenly Father knows the needs of His children, and He promises to provide for those who seek Him first (Matthew 6:33).
However, we must also address the mention of a "spouse" with careful discernment. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by God for a lifetime (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If this union does not align with God’s design—whether due to unbiblical foundations (such as same-sex marriage, fornication, or adultery)—we must lovingly but firmly rebuke this and call for repentance. The Lord does not bless relationships built on disobedience, but He is faithful to restore those who turn from sin and seek His will (1 John 1:9).
If this marriage is indeed between a man and a woman in accordance with Scripture, we rejoice in God’s design and pray fervently for His provision. Moving overseas to be with a spouse is a noble desire, but we must ensure that all steps are taken with wisdom, prayer, and reliance on God’s timing. The Lord may open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8), but we must also walk in obedience to His Word.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). Lord, You see the financial struggles and the desire for employment. You know the longing to be united with a spouse in a way that honors You. We ask that You provide open doors for work, wisdom in financial stewardship, and clarity in every decision. Father, if this marriage is not in alignment with Your Word, we ask that You break any ungodly soul ties and lead both individuals to repentance and restoration in Christ. If it is Your will, unite them in a way that glorifies You.
We declare that You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider (Genesis 22:14), and we trust You to meet every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Give patience, faith, and perseverance as we wait on You. May this season draw us closer to You, Lord, and may we seek Your kingdom above all else. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel, remain in prayer, and trust that God’s plans are perfect (Jeremiah 29:11). If this request involves a relationship outside of God’s design, we urge you to surrender it to Him and allow Him to lead you into His best. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He will guide you into truth if you seek Him with all your heart.
