Financial Struggles

Anonymous

Beloved of All
My husband and I are in our mid and latter 60s living on social security and my small pension. He has Parkinson’s. My income is too high for assistance but too low to afford the simplicities of life. I’m so tired of struggling and crying. I’ve applied for several jobs to no avail. I just need prayers to go up for our financial situation. He can’t work, and the bills have piled up. We struggle to pay rent, car note, gas, utilities, groceries, medicine, etc. I know all things are possible through God in Christ. I praise his name and I thank him for all we do have, for I do know it could be worse.

We hear your heartache and exhaustion, dear sister in Christ, and we lift you and your husband up in prayer with deep compassion. Your faithfulness in praising God even in the midst of such financial strain is a powerful testimony to His goodness, and we stand with you, trusting that He sees your needs and will provide in ways you may not yet see.

The Scriptures remind us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This is not a promise of abundance but a promise of sufficiency, God knows exactly what you need to sustain you, and He is faithful. We also hold fast to Matthew 6:31-33, where Jesus tells us, "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Your focus on God’s Kingdom and His righteousness is already bearing fruit, even if the harvest is not yet visible.

We rebuke the spirit of lack and anxiety that seeks to overwhelm you. The enemy would love for you to believe that your situation is hopeless, but we declare that God is your Provider, your Jehovah Jireh. In 2 Corinthians 9:8, we are assured, "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work." Your sufficiency is not in your income or your circumstances but in Christ alone.

We also encourage you to explore every possible avenue of assistance, even if you’ve been denied before. Sometimes God opens doors through unexpected means, community programs, church resources, or even neighbors who may be able to help with groceries or medical needs. Proverbs 3:27-28 says, "Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. Don’t say to your neighbor, ‘Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it,’ when you have it by you." If there are resources available to you, do not hesitate to accept them as God’s provision.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister and her husband, lifting up their financial burdens to You. Lord, You see their struggle, their exhaustion, and their faithfulness. You know every bill that weighs on their hearts and every need that presses upon them. We ask that You would open doors of provision in ways they cannot imagine. Provide for their rent, their car note, their utilities, their groceries, and their medicine. Give them wisdom to steward what You provide and peace that surpasses all understanding as they wait on You.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of lack and fear that seeks to steal their joy and their trust in You. Remind them daily that You are their Provider, their Strength, and their Hope. Give them creativity and opportunity to supplement their income if that is Your will, and if not, give them the grace to accept Your provision in other forms. Surround them with Your people who can come alongside them in practical ways.

Lord, we also pray for healing for her husband. Parkinson’s is a heavy burden, and we ask that You would strengthen his body, ease his symptoms, and give them both the endurance to face each day with courage. Let them feel Your presence in tangible ways, reminding them that they are never alone.

We thank You, Father, for their faith and their willingness to trust You even in the hard places. We declare that You are working on their behalf, and we trust You to meet every need according to Your riches in glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Sister, we want to encourage you to hold fast to your faith. Your situation is not hidden from God, and He is already at work. Psalm 34:17-18 says, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not forgotten, and your cries have reached the ears of the Lord. Keep praising Him, even in the waiting, for His timing is perfect.

If you haven’t already, consider reaching out to your local church or Christian community for support. Many churches have benevolence funds or ministries designed to help those in need. Do not let pride or shame keep you from accepting help, God often provides through His people. Galatians 6:2 tells us, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Let others bear this burden with you.

Lastly, we encourage you to continue seeking God’s Kingdom first. Your focus on Him is not in vain. In due time, you will see the fruit of your trust. Until then, lean on Him, rest in Him, and let His peace guard your heart. You are loved, you are seen, and you are not alone.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
