Disciple of Prayer
Hi everyone, I could use some prayers and guidance for help with our finances. We, like SO many people, are struggling right now. My husband & I both work full time but still can barely make ends meet. Are there prayers that can help guide us to figure out a solution? I am not looking to become financially rich, I just want to be somewhat comfortable and not have to stress SO much about making ends meet. Prayer has helped me figure out solutions to many problems in my life. I try to be open and let the Holy Spirit guide me in many decisions. However, I am a little lost when it comes to money. Does anyone have scripture or prayers that I can reference? Thank you in advance!! ❤️❤️

We lift you and your husband up in prayer, dear sister, knowing how deeply financial struggles can weigh on the heart and mind. It is a heavy burden to labor faithfully yet still feel the strain of provision, but we serve a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills and calls us to cast all our anxieties upon Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Your desire for comfort—not riches, but peace and provision—reflects a heart that seeks God’s kingdom first, and we commend you for trusting the Holy Spirit’s guidance in this season.

The Word of God is clear that our Heavenly Father knows our needs before we ask (Matthew 6:8), and He promises to provide for His children. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:31-33, *“Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.”* This is not a promise of luxury, but of sustenance—a reminder that when we prioritize His will, He ensures we lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10).

Yet we also recognize that faith without works is dead (James 2:17). While we pray for God’s supernatural provision, we must also steward what He has given us wisely. Proverbs 21:5 tells us, *“The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.”* We encourage you to prayerfully examine your finances together as a couple: Are there areas where expenses can be reduced? Are there skills or resources God has given you that could generate additional income? Could tithing and giving—even in small amounts—open the windows of heaven as Malachi 3:10 promises? These are not easy questions, but they are worth bringing before the Lord in prayer.

We also sense the enemy’s hand in the stress and anxiety that accompany financial lack. The devil seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came to give life abundantly. Do not let fear or discouragement take root. Instead, declare with the psalmist, *“I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread”* (Psalm 37:25). Stand firm in the truth that God is your Provider (Jehovah Jireh), and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Now, let us pray together for you and your husband:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister and her husband, lifting their financial burdens to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see their diligence, their faith, and their desire to honor You in all things. We ask that You open doors of opportunity no man can shut (Revelation 3:8), providing creative solutions, wisdom, and favor in their workplaces. Where there has been lack, let there be overflow. Where there has been stress, let there be peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we rebuke the spirit of poverty and fear that seeks to oppress them. By the authority of Jesus’ name, we break every chain of financial bondage and declare Your supernatural provision over their lives. Teach them to number their days aright, that they may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12), and show them how to steward their resources in a way that glorifies You.

Lord, if there are areas where they can cut back, give them clarity. If there are avenues for increase, reveal them. If there are debts to be paid, provide a way. Let them experience the truth of Your Word, that *“my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus”* (Philippians 4:19).

We also pray for unity in their marriage as they navigate this season. Let them lean on each other and on You, communicating with love and patience. Remind them that two are better than one (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12), and that together, with You as their foundation, they can withstand any storm.

Finally, Father, we thank You in advance for the testimonies of breakthrough they will share. Let their story be a testament to Your faithfulness, encouraging others who are struggling. May they give all glory to You, for it is *“not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,”* says the Lord Almighty (Zechariah 4:6).

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Provider and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

Sister, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord’s face in this matter. Write down your expenses and pray over them. Ask God to reveal any hidden resources or opportunities. Consider fasting together as a couple, if led, as a powerful way to break financial strongholds (Isaiah 58:6-9). And remember, even in the waiting, God is working. *“For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay”* (Habakkuk 2:3).

Stay encouraged. Your breakthrough is coming.

We're right there with you, sister. It's tough when the bills pile up and the paychecks seem to dwindle. We've been in that boat too, and we know the worry and stress it brings. But remember, God sees your hard work and dedication. He knows your needs even before you ask (Matthew 6:8). Let's claim that promise together, shall we?

We've found comfort in Psalm 37:25, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread." God is our Provider, and He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Let's declare that over our lives and trust that He's got this.

Now, let's not forget to be good stewards too. It's wise to take a look at our expenses, see where we can cut back, and maybe even find new ways to bring in some extra income. Proverbs 21:5 tells us, "The plans of the diligent lead to profit." Let's be diligent, prayerful, and wise.

And hey, let's not forget to pray for each other. We're in this together, right? Let's lift each other up, encourage each other, and trust that God is working things out behind the scenes.

So, let's keep seeking God's face, keep trusting, and keep moving forward. Our breakthrough is coming, sister. Stay strong, and remember, we're in this together. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you all for the quick responses and helpful guidance! This is exactly what I was hoping for when I posted. We will continue to trust in the Lord and keep our hearts and minds open as we navigate this season. Praying for you all as well!
