Financial & Family Issues

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for our condo to sell. It's been listed since Nov. 2025. There isn't anything wrong with it except it's an upstairs unit. My Husband is retiring in August and the condo is out of state and difficult to manage from a distance. Also pray for our relationship with my Brother and his family. Thank you. ### and ###

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your financial and family burdens. First, we acknowledge that every good and perfect gift comes from God, and He holds all things in His hands. The sale of your condo is not beyond His control, though the waiting has been long and wearisome. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We pray that the Lord would open the right door for this sale, bringing the perfect buyer who sees the value in your home, even as an upstairs unit. May He remove any obstacles and grant you favor in the marketplace.

We also lift up your husband’s upcoming retirement, asking the Lord to provide wisdom and peace as you navigate this transition. May He guide your steps and supply all your needs according to His riches in glory, as Philippians 4:19 assures us. The distance and difficulty of managing the property from afar have surely weighed on you, but we trust that God is working even in this season of waiting. Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your divine intervention in the sale of this condo. Lord, You know the desires of their hearts, and You know the timing that is best. We ask that You would bring the right buyer quickly, someone who will cherish this home as they have. Remove any hindrances, Lord, and let Your will be done in this matter. We also pray for peace and provision as they prepare for retirement. May Your hand of blessing rest upon them, meeting every need and calming every fear. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Regarding your relationship with your brother and his family, we are reminded of the commandment in Ephesians 4:32, "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Family relationships can be complex, but God calls us to love, forgive, and pursue reconciliation. If there has been strife or distance, we encourage you to seek peace, extending grace just as Christ has extended it to us. Let us pray for restoration and unity:

Lord Jesus, we lift up this family before You, asking for healing and reconciliation in their relationships. Where there has been hurt, bring Your healing balm. Where there has been misunderstanding, bring clarity and grace. Soften hearts, Lord, and help them to extend forgiveness and love to one another, just as You have loved us. May Your peace reign in their family, binding them together in unity. In Your precious name, we pray. Amen.

We also want to gently remind you of the importance of coming before God in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 tells us, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" If you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him into your heart. This is the foundation of all our prayers and the source of true peace and hope.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you, and may He grant you peace in this season. Trust in Him, for He is faithful.

We're grateful you shared this with us. It's clear you're carrying a lot right now, managing an out-of-state property that hasn't sold, watching the calendar creep toward your husband's retirement, and carrying the ache of a strained family relationship on top of it. That's heavy. Please know we are genuinely praying with you.

The condo situation alone would feel like a weight. It's not a broken thing, just an upstairs unit that hasn't found its buyer yet, and with the distance it likely feels like an ongoing frustration you can't fully control. On top of that, the retirement transition is already stirring, not just financially, but emotionally. Even good transitions like retirement can stir up anxiety when the details feel unsettled. You're not alone in that.

One thing we've seen help is pausing long enough to name a simple "if-then" plan. If the condo hasn't sold by a certain date, could you explore renting it temporarily, or would dropping the price slightly give you breathing room? Taking one small, concrete step often lifts the feeling of being stuck. And with your brother: sometimes a handwritten note or a low-key invitation to coffee can crack the door open, even when things are tender. You don't have to fix it all at once.

We're praying for God's perfect timing and for peace that outlasts the unknowns.

Father, you see this couple and the weight they carry. Please bring the right buyer for their condo, soon, in your wisdom, and meet every financial and practical need during this transition. Quiet their anxious thoughts. Surround them with supportive people. And we ask you to gently heal the rift with this brother; soften both hearts, and let love and understanding find a way. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been laid before the Lord in the assembly of His people, and it shall continue to be remembered. The burden of a distant property and a strained family tie weighs upon you both, and these things are not trifles in the sight of Heaven.

As to the condo, I would gently press upon you the danger of letting temporal anxieties so occupy the mind that they distract from that one thing needful. How often do men cry, "Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at least ten," and so delay their full surrender to divine providence, imagining that if only a house would sell or a pension begin, then they might rest. But what if the Lord should require of you your soul in this waiting? Be not among those who strain every nerve over earthly care, yet leave the eternal undone. Your Maker is your Husband, and upon Him rests every responsibility for His own. Commit this sale to Him and go your way singing. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shall you trust; not the cold comfort of a bank balance, but the warm breast of His own love is your true safeguard.

In the matter of your brother, let the story of Joseph be your sweet meditation. See how Joseph always loved his brothers, even when he spoke roughly. The day came when he could no longer restrain himself and cried, "I am Joseph your brother." What affection he showed, asking first after his father, and then weeping upon Benjamin’s neck. Your Saviour, that Elder Brother, is not ashamed to call you brethren; for His sake, therefore, look upon every heavy-laden and faint-hearted relative with the same tender grace. Relationship does what mere duty cannot. Do not wait for your brother to come the first half of the way, but go to him as one who has himself received mercy, and let the love of Jesus constrain you. We shall pray that the constraints of the Spirit may turn all bitterness into the sweet embrace of brotherhood.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
