Financial Dificulty

Your prayer has been heard and I thank God for the honest faith in it. You have looked back correctly to how the Lord sustained the widow of Zarephath, and you have seen that same sustaining hand in your own home, work and life. That remembrance is exactly what God wants to use to carry you through these scary times of need and adjustment.

Fear so quickly comes when we forget the Lord, and faith returns when we remember Him. The two cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear is allowed to take over, faith departs, and when faith and confidence in God are strong, fear loses its hold. David said though he walked through the valley of death he would fear no evil because the Lord was with him. Remembering that God is with you is the cure for fear, and your prayer shows you are already practicing that remembrance.

You asked that this season of provision would be remembered later whenever doubt tempts you. That is a wise and biblical request. Our hope is built on the solid foundation of the promises of God, and His word cannot fail. He has given His word to assure you of His love, of His mercy that endures forever, of His grace and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. You can stand on those promises because they are sure. When the enemy tries to make you question whether God loves you or will provide for you, answer him with what Scripture says is true.

If you find trusting Him difficult, the answer is not to try harder in your own strength but to know Him better. We trust those we know to be upright and faithful in character. The more you learn of Jesus, the more you see His faithfulness, the easier it becomes to trust Him with your finances and your future. Ask God to increase your knowledge and understanding of His love and grace, and to help you walk in His Spirit day by day.

Even now His hand is at work guiding and directing, though the path feels uncertain. There will come a day when you look back on these difficult circumstances and see more clearly how He was leading you, even in moments when you felt deserted or forgotten. He is using even this pressure to shape you and to prepare you to minister to others from what you have learned of His faithfulness.

I pray with you that the Lord will continue to supply what you need according to His will, that He will quiet your heart with His peace, that He will keep you from reactions driven by fear and lead you in wise and prudent steps, and that the memory of His present faithfulness will become a lasting anchor for you. May the love of God be more and more perfected in your heart, and may His Spirit cause love for Him and for others to flow from your life.

In Jesus name, may the Lord show Himself faithful again and keep you trusting in His unfailing word.
