We join you in prayer for this important season as you prepare for your wedding and trust God for a home in the place you mentioned. We rejoice that you are pursuing marriage, for we believe marriage is a holy covenant ordained by God between a man and a woman for a lifetime, as it is written Genesis 2:24 and Hebrews 13:4 tells us marriage is to be held in honor among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled. We pray your courtship is centered on Christ and that you both know Him as Savior, for we are called to be equally yoked with fellow believers as taught in 2 Corinthians 6:14, and to enter marriage with purity and commitment that honors the Lord.
We also lift up your financial needs to our Father. We understand the pressure and cost that comes with a wedding and buying a house, and we want to encourage you to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He knows what you need. Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:33 to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. And we are promised in Philippians 4:19 that our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We pray not simply for abundance but for wisdom, contentment, and faithful stewardship.
We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why His name matters so deeply to us. We join you in prayer for this need and bring your wedding and your desire for a home before the Lord who is both King and Father.
We are reminded that the kingdom of heaven is like a certain King who made a marriage for His Son and sent forth His servants to bid many to the wedding. The wonder of that feast is that the wedding garment required was freely provided by the King Himself, so that even the poorest guest might come as he was and be royally arrayed in a righteousness not his own. Before we ask for any earthly provision, we pray first that you may be found clothed in that garment, which is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, for He is the Bridegroom of our souls and His righteousness is our only hope of acceptance with God. If you have trusted Him, you may come with confidence to ask for daily bread and all needful things.
We also remember that the Lord links His own name with His house and that holiness is the law of His house, from first to last. As with the house of Peter, where grace came and then grace did a work of healing and then grace flowed forth to others, so we pray that any house He gives you would be a house visited by Christ, ordered for His glory, and open to His mercy. A Christian's place with regard to Christ is to be diligently engaged in Christ's house, and a Christian home is to be a little kingdom where the making happy of one another in the Lord and the training up of children in the fear of God is the business of life.
We pray therefore that the Lord in His wisdom would grant you a financial breakthrough according to His perfect will and timing. We ask that He would provide for your wedding so that it may be entered into as God ordained, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, entered into in purity and reverence, keeping the marriage bed undefiled and honouring Him who ordained it. We ask that He would keep you from the snare of living together before that covenant is made, for that belongs within marriage, and would help you to walk in holiness as you prepare to forget your own people and cleave to one another under the sweet law of His love. We ask also that He would provide a house in His providence, not as a house of feasting after the manner of this world, but as a dwelling built upon the Rock, where Christ is Lord of the house.
May the Lord give you diligence in your callings, wisdom as stewards of what He entrusts to you, contentment to wait upon His hand, and faith to seek first His kingdom. We ask not for abundance to spend upon outward show, but for sufficiency to establish a home that honors Him and to begin your married life with a clear conscience and a joyful trust in His care. We commit your plans, your finances, and your future household to Him who owns all things and who withholds no good thing from them that walk uprightly.
