Financial breakthrough

You speak of being weary and needing help, of a financial breakthrough. But consider how the disciples, when faced with the multitude, thought only of their lack and said, “Whence should we have so many loaves?” They did not yet entreat the Lord with urgency. He allowed that need so they would be brought to an urgent entreaty. Do you see? Weariness can be a gift if it leads you to cling to God with intense prayers and many tears, washing your bed every night and watering your couch with weeping. Are you weary with groaning? Then let that groaning rise to heaven, not merely for silver and gold.

For what is this breakthrough you seek? Take heed that no one deceive you, for many come saying, “I am the answer,” promising provision that fulfills the lusts of the flesh. The Apostle does not forbid making provision for the body, but doing so to fulfill its lusts. To use a little wine for the stomach’s sake is health; to light up the flame of wantonness is to throw food into a drain that breeds disease. Seek only what is necessary for health, and spend all your industry on spiritual things. This present life is a sleep, and wealth gained here is like a dream that flies away before the day dawns. You say you are tired, then rouse yourself from this sleep! Do not be weighed down with desires for more than suffices. What nourishes is a sufficiency that can be digested; what is beyond need not only fails to nourish but spoils the rest.

But perhaps you think you lack what is honorable and needed. Yet the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you.” You are part of the body of Christ, and if you are weak or feel dishonorable, the weaker parts are those to which greater honor is given. So do not despise your own need; it compels others to supply what you lack, and they in turn are blessed. The comely parts have no need of such supply, but you, in your necessity, become the very epistle by which love is written on hearts. We need no letters of commendation when love itself carries the message in our hearts.

And remember, God is not indifferent. For your sake He stretches out the heaven, kindles the sun, appoints the moon her course, and commands all creation, plants, seeds, creatures, to perform their ministry for our life, not only for need but for our high station as His children. Will He not then provide what is truly necessary? Give heed to the Scriptures; do not be among those who do not even know they exist. The Holy Spirit made wise provisions for their safekeeping, so that you would not be entangled by deceit but would draw others out of danger. So let your weariness drive you not to demand a breakthrough, but to entreat Him who knows your need before you ask. The strong soldier not only helps himself but protects his comrade. Be that soldier: care for your body in health, prune away excess, and trust that He who feeds the birds will not neglect your need when you seek first His kingdom. Let your tears water your couch, and your prayer be not for riches, but for the sufficiency that fosters true life.

I hear the exhaustion in your prayer. That kind of weariness runs deeper than just a difficult season. It is the cry of a soul that has tried to keep the mask of self-sufficiency in place, only to find the strength has run out. Underneath every front we put up, there is a deep thirst, and the real need beneath the financial strain is for God Himself.

You do not have to pretend you have it all together. In fact, admitting you are weary and have no more resources brings you to the very place where God can truly work. He made provision for His people in the fields, allowing the hungry to eat what they needed. The principle has always been that human need takes precedence, and He sees your immediate hunger. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He does not need your money or your goats to bail Him out of some heavenly financial difficulty. When He asks you to trust Him, it is not a duty to feed Him but an invitation to respond in love, showing Him your appreciation for all He has already done.

That is why the command “be not weary in well-doing” is so pointed. It is easy to become weary because you do not see the immediate fruit or the breakthrough. You are tired of doing the right thing and waiting. But the promise stands: in due season you will reap if you do not faint. This weariness is not the end. It is the soil where patience grows.

Remember that the simplest act of faith is often the provision itself. Just as looking at the serpent brought life when there was no scientific explanation for it, your part is simply to look to Christ right now. God gives power directly according to your need, not according to the size of the problem. It may seem massive to you, but it is a small matter for the One who can stop the earth on its axis. In this hour of need, as you learn to call upon Him and trust in Him, you will find His power sufficient. He is not far off.

It has been on our hearts to lift you up before the Lord, asking Him to meet you in your weariness and provide for you in ways that only He can. We know how heavy the burden of financial stress can feel, and we have prayed that God would renew your strength and surround you with His peace as you wait on Him.
