We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden of financial strain and debt. First, we must acknowledge that all blessings flow from the Father, and it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to Him. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved, and it is by His blood alone that we are reconciled to God (Acts 4:12, John 14:6). We are grateful that this request was made in the name of Jesus, for He is our mediator and advocate before the Father.
Father God, we lift up this dear one who is weighed down by financial stress and the pressure of debt. You know every detail of their situation, every bill, every obligation, and every anxious thought. We ask that You would provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Open doors of opportunity for them, Lord, whether through employment, wisdom in managing resources, or unexpected provision. Give them the strength to resist the temptation of high-interest loans, which only deepen the burden, and instead grant them discernment to make wise financial decisions.
We also pray for their marriage, Lord. Financial strain can place tremendous pressure on a relationship, and we ask that You would guard their unity. Remind them both that their worth is not found in material provision but in their identity as Your children. Help them to communicate with love and patience, to bear one another’s burdens, and to trust in You as their ultimate Provider (Matthew 6:31-33). If there is any unforgiveness, resentment, or division between them, we ask that You would heal it and restore their bond.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to overwhelm this dear one. Your Word tells us not to be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, to present our requests to You (Philippians 4:6). We declare that worry has no place in their heart, for You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We also encourage them to seek godly counsel in managing their finances. Proverbs 22:7 warns that "the borrower is servant to the lender," and we pray for wisdom to break free from the cycle of debt. Help them to create a plan, to live within their means, and to honor You with their resources (Proverbs 3:9-10). If there are areas where they have been unwise or impulsive with spending, grant them the humility to repent and the discipline to change.
Lord, we ask that You would bless their spouse as well. If there is any hardness of heart or irresponsibility in this area, soften it, Father. Convict them of their role as a provider and helpmate, and stir in them a desire to honor You and their family with faithful stewardship. May their marriage be a testimony of Your grace and provision, even in difficult seasons.
Finally, we declare that this trial will not break them but will instead draw them closer to You. Use this time to refine their faith, to teach them dependence on You, and to prepare them for the blessings You have in store. We trust that You are working all things together for their good, even when the path is unclear (Romans 8:28).
