Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for opening your heart so honestly about your faith feeling small and your need for God to provide. Wanting to walk by faith and not by sight is a good and biblical desire, and God welcomes that honest cry.
The Scripture teaches that the way we receive from God is by faith, not by trying to earn it through our own efforts. We do not deserve His grace and we cannot work for it. The Holy Spirit, forgiveness, and every good work God does in us comes as a gift when we trust in Jesus Christ. That faith itself is a gift from God. By grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. When we believe in Jesus, God counts that faith for righteousness, just as He did with Abraham. Those who are of faith are His children, and the just shall live by faith. The law cannot make us righteous because the law is about works, but righteousness comes only through faith in Christ.
That is why the greatest miracle God can do in any life is the forgiveness of sins and new life in Jesus. Compared to that, every other need is smaller. If you have trusted Christ, you have already received the greatest miracle, and God wants your faith to rest first on that finished work and on His Word, not only on whether a specific financial answer appears this week.
True faith is more than saying we believe. If faith is real it will show itself in how we live. Faith without corresponding action is dead and cannot save, because genuine faith produces a changed life and obedience. Abraham believed God, and his obedience showed his faith was real. His faith and his actions worked together. In the same way, faith in God will move us to live faithfully before Him, which includes how we handle money, work diligently, steward what we have, be honest, seek counsel, and obey His Word. Works do not create faith, but real faith will always lead to action that matches what we believe.
Faith is also described as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. It sees beyond what is visible. A person without faith only sees the bank balance and the bills, but a person of faith sees the unseen promises and character of God. Yet that does not mean faith is blind or based on spectacular events, tingling feelings, or the demand to see a miracle first. Feelings change, and a faith that is built only on needing to see something miraculous is shallow and not the kind Jesus honors. Our faith must be founded on the Word of God, which is solid and unchanging.
The Bible also shows us that having faith does not guarantee that we will never face hardship or that every prayer for provision will be answered instantly in the way we hope. Many faithful men and women died still trusting God without having received everything they hoped for in this life. Some who trusted God suffered, were tested, and endured trials. Their faith was proven through testing, and God used that proving not because He did not know their hearts, but to refine them. Even great men of faith had moments when their faith wavered. God understands weakness and lapses, and He is patient to grow the measure of faith He has given you.
God is certainly able to do more than you can imagine, and He does work miracles among His people as He ministers by faith. He honors the faith of those who look to Him. At times He challenges us to put that faith into action, to trust Him and act on His Word. At other times He calls us to keep trusting even when the answer is delayed. In either case, the call is to live by faith day by day.
So as you pray about your finances and living situation, keep bringing your needs to Him honestly. Ask Him not only for provision but for wisdom, contentment, and guidance to walk faithfully with what you have. Ask Him to strengthen the faith He has already given you through His Word, to help you trust His promises about His care, His nearness, and His ability to provide for His children according to His wisdom. And ask Him to show you the practical steps of faithfulness He wants you to take this week, whether that is wise budgeting, diligent work, seeking help, or turning from any habit that does not honor Him.
I am praying for you that God will meet your needs according to His perfect will, that He will give you peace as you trust Him, that He will grow your faith as you stay rooted in His Word, and that you will experience His provision and presence in a way that draws you closer to Jesus. May you know that whether the answer comes quickly or through a longer walk of trust, He loves you, He sees you, and living by faith in Christ is the path where He makes you righteous and keeps you.
