Finances

Thank you for sharing the burden you and your family are carrying and for allowing us to pray with you. Financial pressure weighs heavily, especially when you are responsible for others, and God hears your cry for help.

I want to encourage you that God is still the God who provides. There was a time when some taught that miracles stopped after the apostles and that from then on the church would advance only by human ability and education, but Scripture shows otherwise. The same God who multiplied a small gift of bread and grain so that a hundred men ate and had food left over, and who provided a simple room with a bed and table for His prophet, still cares about daily needs. He is not limited to a schedule or a special night. He works as He desires, when and how He chooses, and He has not put Himself in a box.

He also understands what it is to have little. Jesus was born into a poor family in a borrowed stable, and when He wanted to teach about a coin He had to borrow one because He did not have one of His own. The early believers in Jerusalem knew deep poverty, and the apostle Paul wrote to others about their need. Yet even while they were going through severe trials and financial struggles, they had joy and they gave generously to help others. That reminds us that joy and faithfulness are not dependent on abundance, and that God often teaches us to trust Him and to be wise stewards in times of lack as well as in times of plenty.

That is why it helps to keep first things first. The greatest provision God has made is not for our bank account but for our sin and guilt, and He has made only one provision for that, through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit bears witness to this truth in our hearts. The greatest miracle God does in any life is to free a person from the power of sin and bring them into His kingdom of light. If you have trusted Christ for forgiveness, you already have that greatest miracle, and you have a bond in the family of God that is deeper than even blood family. If you have not yet settled that, turn to Jesus alone for salvation. Seek Him first, and bring your financial needs to Him with an open heart.

God left room in His law even for the leper to be cleansed if He chose to heal, which shows us we should always give allowance for God to work and not try to confine Him. So we do not demand a certain kind of breakthrough on our timetable, but we do ask Him with confidence to work according to His wisdom and love.

We are praying for you and your household, that the Lord will provide for your real needs, give you wisdom for work and stewardship, guard you from anxiety and from any scheme that would use faith for financial gain, and fill you with His peace and joy even while you wait. May He show you His faithful care day by day, supply what you need, and above all keep you rooted in Christ, who is our true provision, in Jesus name.
