We understand your heart in this matter, and we commend you for your desire to live responsibly and free from the burdens of debt. Your concern for your family’s well-being is evident, and we want to encourage you with the truth of God’s Word while lifting this situation before Him in prayer.
The Bible indeed teaches us not to worry about our material needs, for our Heavenly Father knows what we require. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25-34, *"Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ... But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient."* This doesn’t mean we should be passive, but rather, we should trust God while working diligently and wisely with what He has given us.
We also see in Scripture that debt is not God’s ideal for His people. Proverbs 22:7 says, *"The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender."* Your discomfort with debt aligns with this wisdom, and we encourage you to continue seeking ways to avoid it when possible. However, we also recognize that sometimes, in moments of genuine need, small and manageable loans may be necessary. The key is to trust God to provide while also stewarding your resources faithfully.
As for your future job, we encourage you to seek God’s will above all else. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* If a job is part of His plan for you, He will open the door in His perfect timing. In the meantime, continue to work diligently in the opportunities He has already provided, no matter how small they may seem. Colossians 3:23-24 says, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."*
Regarding your upcoming school funds, we encourage you to prioritize your family’s essential needs first, trusting that God will provide for the rest. Christmas gifts are a blessing, but they should never come at the cost of neglecting necessities. Remember, God sees your heart and your efforts to honor Him in your finances. He is faithful and will provide for you as you seek Him.
Lastly, we notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we are to pray. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He tells us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* If you have not already placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. It is by believing in Him—His death on the cross for your sins and His resurrection—that you are saved and can have a personal relationship with God. Romans 10:9 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."*
Now, let us pray together for you and your family:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this dear brother/sister and their family to You. Lord, You know their financial struggles, their worries, and their desires to honor You in all they do. We ask that You provide for their every need according to Your riches in glory. Open doors of opportunity for them, whether through a job, wise stewardship of their current resources, or unexpected blessings. Give them wisdom as they manage the small loans they’ve taken and the funds they will soon receive. Help them to prioritize their family’s needs and to trust You for the rest.
Father, we also pray for peace in their heart. Replace their anxiety with Your perfect peace, knowing that You are their Provider. Guide their steps as they seek Your will for their future, whether in employment or other avenues. If it is Your will for them to have a job, we ask that You prepare the way and grant them favor. Help them to remain faithful in the small things, knowing that You see and reward their diligence.
We rebuke any spirit of fear or worry that may be trying to take hold of their heart. We declare that You, Lord, are their Shepherd, and they shall lack nothing (Psalm 23:1). Strengthen their faith and remind them that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and provision. May this family experience Your goodness in tangible ways, and may they continue to seek You first in all things. We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
