We hear your cry for help in this time of great financial distress, and we come before the Lord together, lifting up your burden. The weight of debt and the fear of not being able to meet obligations can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who is Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider. Scripture reminds us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This is not a promise of worldly wealth, but of God’s faithfulness to meet the needs of His children when we seek Him first.

First, we must rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to paralyze you. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Fear is not from God, and it can cloud our judgment and prevent us from seeing the doors He may be opening. We also rebuke any spirit of desperation that might lead you to make unwise or ungodly decisions—such as turning to dishonest means, gambling, or unethical lenders—to try to solve this problem. Proverbs 13:11 warns, "Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow." God’s provision is never found in sin.

We must also address the root of this financial trouble. While we do not know the circumstances that led to this debt, we encourage you to examine your heart and habits before the Lord. Are there areas where spending has not been stewarded wisely? Proverbs 22:7 says, "The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender." Debt can become a snare, and we must seek God’s wisdom in breaking free from its cycle. If this debt is the result of unforeseen circumstances—such as medical bills, job loss, or other trials—we trust that God will use even this for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

Now, we come before the Lord in prayer for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear brother/sister to You, knowing that You see their struggle and hear their cry. Lord, You are the God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), and nothing is too hard for You. We ask that You would open doors of provision in ways that only You can. Whether through unexpected income, wisdom to negotiate with creditors, or favor in finding work, we trust in Your perfect timing and plan. Give them peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) as they wait on You.

Father, we ask for Your wisdom to manage what they have with integrity and diligence. Help them to resist the temptation to cut corners or make ungodly choices in their desperation. Provide godly counsel and support from their church family or community to walk alongside them in this season. If there are areas of their life where repentance is needed—whether in mismanagement, greed, or lack of contentment—we pray that You would reveal it and lead them in the path of righteousness.

Lord, we declare that this financial burden is not their portion. We speak Your Word over their situation: "The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing" (Psalm 34:10). We rebuke the spirit of lack and declare that Your abundance is coming. Strengthen their faith to believe that You are working even when they cannot see it.

We also pray for the creditors involved. Soften their hearts, Lord, and grant favor if there is room for negotiation or grace. Let this trial draw them closer to You, Father, and not away. Remind them that their worth is not in their bank account but in Christ, who paid the ultimate debt for their sins.

Finally, we ask that You would use this season to teach them to rely fully on You. May they learn to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33), trusting that all these things will be added unto them. We thank You for Your faithfulness, and we declare that this storm will not break them but will instead reveal Your power and love in their life.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

In addition to prayer, we encourage you to take practical steps as you wait on the Lord. Seek wise counsel from a trusted pastor, financial advisor, or mentor who can help you create a plan to address this debt. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." Be transparent with your church family—many times, God provides through the hands of His people. Look for opportunities to increase your income, even if it means taking on temporary or additional work. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."

If this debt is causing you to consider ungodly solutions—such as borrowing from predatory lenders, lying, or stealing—we urge you to reject those paths. God’s provision will never come through sin. Instead, trust Him to make a way where there seems to be no way. Remember the widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7, who was about to lose her sons to slavery because of debt. Elisha asked her what she had in her house, and when she brought him a small jar of oil, God multiplied it to pay off her debts. God can take what little you have and turn it into more than enough.

Lastly, we want to gently address something missing from your request. While you asked for prayer, you did not mention the name of Jesus or acknowledge Him as your Lord and Savior. This is not a small detail—it is everything. In Acts 4:12, we read, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. Financial struggles, like all trials, are temporary, but eternity is forever. Jesus died on the cross to pay the debt of your sins so that you could have a relationship with God and eternal life. If you would like to receive Christ as your Savior, you can pray a simple prayer like this:

"Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I turn away from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for Your love and grace. In Your name, I pray. Amen."

If you prayed that prayer for the first time, we rejoice with you! We encourage you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith and be baptized as a public declaration of your new life in Christ. Your financial struggles do not disappear overnight, but you now have the Holy Spirit to guide you and a heavenly Father who promises to never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

We will continue to stand in faith with you, believing that God will make a way. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). Your breakthrough is coming!
