FIL needs prayers for his health

Disciple of Prayer
Please keep ### in your prayers. He is dealing with kidney failure, type 1 diabetes, and heart issues, possibly failure. He is trying to get his affairs in order and spend time with his son that he didn’t spend when younger. We just want some more time to help him finish getting his affairs in order and for them to have time together.

We lift up in prayer, standing together in faith as we bring his needs before the throne of grace. Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your healing touch upon his body. Your Word declares in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." We claim this promise over , asking for restoration and strength in his kidneys, heart, and overall health. Lord, we know that Your power is made perfect in weakness, and we ask that You would sustain him through this trial.

We also pray for wisdom and peace as he seeks to get his affairs in order. May Your Holy Spirit guide him in every decision, and may he find comfort in knowing that his life is in Your hands. Help him to use this time to draw closer to You and to his son, mending any broken bonds and creating lasting memories. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." We pray that this season would be one of reconciliation, love, and peace for and his family.

Father, we also ask that You would surround with Your presence, filling him with hope and courage. Psalm 73:26 says, "My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Be his strength, Lord, and grant him the time he needs to complete the work he desires to do. We trust in Your perfect will, knowing that You are sovereign over all things.

If has not yet placed his faith in Jesus Christ, we pray that he would come to know You as his Lord and Savior. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We pray that he would surrender his life to You, finding eternal hope and peace in Christ.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Friends, we are holding you and your whole family close in our hearts right now. Watching someone you love face so many health battles at once is heavy, and the longing for more time together is completely understandable.

What we hear in your words is not just a plea for healing, but a deep desire for these days, however many there are, to be full of purpose and peace. The things your father-in-law is doing are profoundly wise: putting his affairs in order, and finally carving out the space to really be with his son. That longing to reconcile lost time is a holy impulse, and it’s never too late to see it bear fruit.

Sometimes, when the body is weak, the soul finds remarkable clarity. There is a special grace that can settle over these moments, where unimportant things fall away and what truly matters comes into focus. It can be a season for saying the words that have been needed for years, for simple presence together, and for the quiet assurance that love endures. We see the Lord’s hand in that, not as a fix for the illness, but as a Shepherd walking with you through the valley.

As for the practical side, helping him complete his arrangements, whether that’s a will, funeral wishes, or simply gathering important information, is a tangible way to serve him and to lift a burden from his shoulders. It may also open the door to conversations about his life, his faith, and what he wants his son to carry forward. Those moments can be hard, but they are also gifts.

We are praying now.

Lord Jesus, you see the man we are lifting up to you. You know every beat of his heart and every struggle in his body. We don’t ask for time we are not promised, but we ask you to fill whatever time remains with your unmistakable presence. Let there be peace in the paperwork, healing in the conversations between father and son, and a steady strength for the whole family as they care for him. Hold them all together in your unshakable love, and let the hope of eternal life be their anchor. Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please Heavenly Father heal and strengthen this loved one. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The frame of this poor body gives way under the weight of disease, kidney failure, the long strife of diabetes, and now the heart itself laboring under its own infirmity. Such a trinity of troubles would make any man’s spirit sink. As you well know, heart disease is a very dangerous disease, even if a very little is wrong with the heart, it is a serious matter, for every other part of the body will be affected. The tears that attend such a bedside can wear away the strength of life itself; my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing.

Yet it is here the Eternal Father speaks into the frailty of man. He does not leave us without a word that braces the soul. Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you that hope in the LORD. The desire for more time to set the house in order and restore the years the locust has eaten between father and son is no trivial thing. It is a mercy to see this reaching of a father’s heart toward his offspring. But let us not mistake mere earthly settlement for the deep peace that must be secured. The great business that presses is not only the arranging of papers and possessions, but the heart’s return home.

You speak of time for a son to know his father again. Oh, but there is a Father and Son in a far higher sense, whose fellowship is the fountain of all true reconciliation. Does not your heart feel intense sympathy with the eternal purpose of the Father and the gracious work of the Savior? The Eternal Father will be glad to get back His lost son, to press to His bosom a heart warm with affection for Him, which heart before had been cold and stony towards Him. This is the urgent business: for the invalid to see that the Father, for Christ’s sake, blots out transgression. He looks upon His Son, Jesus, bearing our sin. When the Father saw his only-begotten Son suffering, even to death, it made such an infinite impression upon His great soul that He forgot the sins for which His Son gave His life! It is a plain word, but it holds the weight of glory: the gate of salvation is too narrow for two persons to go through arm-in-arm. You must all singly and separately pass the portal of Eternal Life. See that the man upon that sickbed does not rely upon a vague hope, but answers the call of Wisdom: My son, give Me your heart.

Prayer must be the breath of this season. I would have you and the family form a holy siege around that bed. I should like to hear of little bands formed of Christian men and women who pledged themselves to pray, four at a time, for somebody possessed by a devil of the kind that will not go out by ordinary means, or in this case, a cluster of physical evils that mock physicians. Wrestle with the Angel of the Covenant that the man might not merely mend his earthly fences, but that he might be wholly given to the Lord before he goes hence. If He that made the heavens and the earth laid aside His splendor and veiled Himself in our inferior clay, do you think He will fail in the purpose for which He did this? Can the Incarnation of God be a failure? You have only to battle with a single vice to feel what a monster is to be overcome, but you battle now with sickness and the press of time. Yet God is not willing for that quarrel to continue. The work of reconciliation He committed to His Son, the word of reconciliation He has committed to us. Lay hold on faithful prayer, and may that household know the joy of a soul singing, not mechanically, but from the depths, as one who has been brought from the horrible pit. He who began the good work will not leave it, and the Father’s own hand shall be upon this house for good.

Father,

We lift up this beloved father to You. Please strengthen his body, ease his suffering, and grant him more time—time to set his affairs in order and time to pour into his son what was lost before. Surround them both with Your peace and grace. Let these days be filled with healing, not just of the body, but of the heart.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
