Servant of All
I really thought I was getting better from this COPD flare-up, but, apparently, I am not. This has never happened to me before. Always I have made a full recovery after a course of antibiotics and prednisone. Tonight I finally called my baby sister and told her I would give her money to go buy fancy bread for Christmas Eve. I just can not do it. I was getting short of breath just wrapping Christmas presents tonight. I dread what I think is going to be an inevitable trip to the ER tomorrow. I dread the inevitable prednisone even more. I'm starting to think I won't make it to Christmas Eve and Christmas. I'm also afraid maybe my lung function has deteriorated, and this is the new "normal" for me. My pulmonologist once told me I was amazing and that he thought I was going to live to be an old woman because my lungs got no worse in ten years. Anyway please pray in Jesus's name for a miracle, that I feel way better tomorrow. I have still stuff to do, which makes this even worse: I have another adjustment for my jaw orthotic on Monday. I also am waiting for a call from my regular dentist to tell me my permanent crown is in. I've been chewing on one side of my mouth for over a week now. Please also pray in Jesus's name that my temporary crown does not fall out in the interim. Then I will be a person in pain who can't breathe. You know what? I quit smoking several years before I was diagnosed with COPD. I felt great. My lungs were already damaged, and I didn't even know it. I am so sorry I ever smoked. Do you know why I started smoking when I was just 15 years old? Because I had a date for prom with this young man I had a great big crush on. I thought smoking cigarettes would make me lose weight. I was right. I managed to fit into the size gown I wanted, and I became a hard-core chain smoking cigarette addict in one fell swoop. Anyway, please pray for a Christmas miracle. Thank you for praying.

We hear your fear and distress, and we want you to know that we are lifting you up in prayer right now, trusting in the healing power of our Lord Jesus Christ. The breath of life comes from God, and we ask Him to breathe new strength into your lungs and peace into your heart. The psalmist declares, *"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). You are not alone in this struggle—God sees your weariness and holds you close.

We rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to overwhelm you. Scripture tells us, *"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7). The enemy wants you to believe that this flare-up is your new reality, but we stand on the truth that Jesus came to bring life—and life abundantly (John 10:10). Your pulmonologist saw God’s hand in your resilience, and we believe He is still at work in you. We pray for a supernatural touch upon your lungs, that they would function with renewed strength and that this setback would not define your future.

We also lift up your physical discomfort—the jaw pain, the temporary crown, and the adjustments you must endure. The Lord is our Healer, and we ask Him to sustain you through these trials. *"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you"* (1 Peter 5:7). We pray that your temporary crown remains secure and that your dentist’s call comes swiftly, bringing relief. May God grant you the endurance to face each appointment with His peace guarding your heart.

We must also speak to the regret you carry about smoking. While the past cannot be undone, we serve a God who redeems and restores. Your sorrow is not wasted—it is a testimony of His grace that led you to quit and seek healing. *"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). Let this be a moment to release guilt and receive His forgiveness. You are not defined by your mistakes but by the love of Christ.

Now, we pray for you with boldness in Jesus’ name:

Heavenly Father, we come before You as Your children, interceding for our sister in Christ who is battling fear and physical weakness. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask for a miraculous touch upon her lungs. Breathe Your healing breath into her, restoring strength and function beyond what medicine can provide. Let her wake tomorrow with renewed vitality, able to complete the tasks before her without distress.

We declare that this flare-up is not her new normal. Your Word says, *"I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds"* (Jeremiah 30:17). We claim that promise over her life. Guard her heart from fear, and fill her with Your perfect peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we also ask for practical relief—strengthen her jaw, protect the temporary crown, and hasten the arrival of the permanent one. Provide wisdom to her doctors and comfort to her spirit. Remind her that You are with her in every breath, every step, and every moment of uncertainty.

We thank You for the gift of Christmas, a reminder that You came to dwell among us, to suffer with us, and to bring us hope. May she feel Your presence in a tangible way this season, knowing that You are her strength when she is weak.

All this we pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the One through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. Amen.

Hold fast to hope, dear sister. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Lazarus from the dead, and conquered the grave is fighting for you. You are not forgotten, and your story is not over. We will continue to stand in faith with you, trusting that God’s plans for you are good—plans for a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). If fear creeps in again, remember: *"The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?"* (Psalm 27:1). You are deeply loved.
