Fears

We join you in bringing your fears before the Lord and we thank you for asking in the high name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find strength and deliverance.

We understand how fear can feel overwhelming and paralyze our hearts, but God's Word reminds us that fear does not come from Him and that His presence is greater than anything we face. As it is written, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. And again, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

We are also encouraged that perfect love casts out fear, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18. When we draw near to God and abide in His love through Christ, He replaces our fear with His peace. We are told, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We rejoice that you have sought the Lord, for the psalmist declares, I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4. God does not want you to remain bound by fear, but to walk in courage knowing He is with you wherever you go, Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus. We thank You that You see every fear, every anxious thought, and every burden on this heart. We ask You to pour out Your strength where there is weakness and Your perfect love where there is fear. Fill this heart with Your power, love, and self-control, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help this dear one to cast all cares upon You, to trust in Your promises daily, and to walk in the assurance that You are holding them with Your righteous right hand. Strengthen faith to overcome fear, and teach us to seek You first in all things through Your Word and prayer. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring every fear to God in prayer, to speak His Word over your life daily, and to remember that He is with you and will strengthen you. As you abide in Christ, He will perfect His love in you and fear will lose its hold.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. Wanting God's strength to face fear is a good and humble place to come to Him, and we are glad you brought it to us.

Fear can settle in quickly and make even ordinary days feel heavy. It touches both our thoughts and our bodies, and it makes sense you would ask for strength beyond your own to walk through it. God sees that and He does not turn away when we come to Him feeling afraid.

One thing that often helps is to notice where strength has already shown up, even in small ways. Think back over the past week or two for a moment when fear was present but you still took a next step, prayed, reached out, or rested in God for a few minutes. Naming those moments can remind you that God has already been at work in you, and it gives you a place to build from as you keep asking Him for more.

We are also here to keep praying with you, and if fear feels like it is weighing on your sleep, your daily life or your peace for a long time, it can help to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor alongside prayer.

Father, we bring our friend to You now. You know the fears that feel big right now and the heart that wants to trust You more. Give steady strength for each day, quiet the worry that crowds in, and help our friend sense Your nearness and care. Lead step by step and keep holding fast. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for strength to overcome fear has been heard, and it is a good and needful prayer. For all strength apart from God is derived strength and is consequently measurable, indeed apart from God it is not strength at all and must come to an end. But the Lord Himself has said, I will strengthen them, and what He promises to give it is our duty to seek.

Scripture meets your fear with a direct word from the Lord, Fear not, for I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm Jacob. This is not merely the preacher who cries fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant, fear not. To give way to fear when He has thus spoken is painful and weakening to the spirit, and it dishonors the God whose arm piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth. You must know your own weakness and believe God's strength, trusting in His promised help.

How then shall your strength be renewed. The promise is sure for those who wait upon the Lord, they shall renew their strength. Waiting upon God is not a single act but a continual looking to Him, coming to His truth and pleading His promises in prayer, and being backed up by His Spirit. God's promises are our precepts, and you may take His own word and plead it before Him, Lord, You have said as thy days so shall thy strength be, and You cannot lie, therefore keep Your promise to me. He that looked into the face of his God need not fear the face of any terror before him, for secret communion with God gives strength and vigor to push on.

It is for God's glory and for your usefulness that you should be strong, and He Himself will impart that strength fitly and wisely balanced. The joy of the Lord shall be your strength, and the Lord Jehovah shall be your song and salvation.

We pray for you now, that the Holy Spirit who alone can work this in you would make you strong in the Lord. Father, in the high name of Jesus Christ through whom alone is salvation, look upon this seeking soul. Forgive sin through the blood of Your dear Son, and impart Your own strength. Teach this one to wait continually upon You, to trust Your promise that You will help, and to labor to cast fear away by faith. Let Your perfect love cast out fear, and let Christ be the glory of all strength, that fears being overcome, this life may be spent walking up and down in Your name and declaring Your wondrous works. Amen.

Your prayer for strength to overcome fear has been heard, and it is good that you have brought it to God in the name of Jesus.

Fear is common to us all, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. The strength you seek does not come from yourself alone, but from above, and yet it also requires your own resolve to trust Him and stand firm. As Scripture teaches, we need mighty strength to bear the name of Christ well in this life, and that strength is supplied by His grace when we ask for it.

Remember that if God is mighty, His Son is mighty also, and you can take courage from the voice of the Father who has declared His love for His Son and His care for you. When you know His power and His presence, fear begins to lose its hold. Even those who once trembled were made bold when they understood that God was with them, and the same God who gave courage to others in their bonds and trials will give courage to you.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I lift up this one who is struggling with fear. You see the heart and You know every anxious thought. Grant strength from above, steady the heart, and fill this life with courage and peace. Help to trust Your promises, to rest in Your power, and to walk without fear, knowing that You are near and that You uphold with Your righteous hand. Teach to seek You daily in prayer and in Your Word, and to find that perfect love casts out fear. May Your grace sustain and keep through every trial. In the high and holy name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Continue to bring your fears to Him in prayer, stay rooted in Scripture, and remember that He is faithful to strengthen those who call upon Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
