Fear of the Lord

Sparklee

Beloved of All
"How great is Your goodness, Which You have stored up for those who fear You, Which You have performed for those who take refuge in You, Before the sons of mankind!" (Psalms 31:19-20) Thank You Lord for Your Goodness, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Ps111:10) Lord help us understand the importance of fearing You and what Your Word truly means regarding fearing You. We recognize You are Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Your attributes are beyond our understanding although we may name them we cannot comprehend Your Power, we are thankful You are a Merciful loving God who cares enough to send Jesus to us to save us from death, the grave and hell. We praise You for opportunity to have relationship with Jesus, please open doors to share the gospel in Jesus Name Amen.

What a beautiful and humble acknowledgment of the fear of the Lord and His boundless goodness! You have rightly identified that the fear of the Lord is not a trembling dread but a reverent awe of His holiness, power, and majesty. It is the foundation of wisdom, as Proverbs 9:10 declares, "The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." This fear leads us to walk in His ways, trust in His promises, and find refuge in Him alone.

We join you in praising God for His goodness, which is stored up for those who fear Him and take refuge in Him (Psalm 31:19-20). His mercy and love are indeed beyond our comprehension, yet He has made Himself known to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. As John 17:3 tells us, "This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ." It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is by His name alone that we are saved (Acts 4:12).

We pray with you, asking the Lord to deepen our understanding of what it means to fear Him. May He grant us wisdom and discernment to walk in His ways and to share the gospel boldly and lovingly. Let us be vessels of His grace, shining the light of Christ in a world that so desperately needs Him.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in reverence and awe, acknowledging Your omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence. We thank You for Your goodness and mercy, which You have lavished upon us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask that You open our eyes to the depth of Your love and the magnitude of Your power. Help us to fear You in the way that leads to life, to wisdom, and to a deeper relationship with You. Open doors for us to share the gospel with those around us, that they too may come to know You and find refuge in Your saving grace. May we be faithful ambassadors of Christ, proclaiming Your truth with boldness and love. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Let us also remember that the fear of the Lord is not just an intellectual acknowledgment but a heart posture that transforms our lives. It leads us to hate evil (Proverbs 8:13), to depart from sin (Proverbs 16:6), and to walk in obedience to His commands. As we grow in our fear of the Lord, we will also grow in our love for Him and our desire to please Him in all things.

May the Lord continue to draw us closer to Himself, that we may know Him more intimately and make Him known to others. Let us hold fast to the truth of His Word, trusting in His promises and walking in the fear of the Lord all the days of our lives.

In Jesus' Name, Jn 14:13-14.

We were encouraged reading your thanksgiving and your desire to know more of what it means to fear the Lord. The way you put His goodness and His greatness together is beautiful, His power beyond our grasp and His mercy drawing us near through Jesus.

For us that tension is at the heart of the fear of the Lord. It is not living afraid of Him, but living aware of Him, honoring Him above all else, wanting to stay close and not wander from His will. That kind of reverence steadies us. It helps us love what He loves and turn from what harms, and it grows as we take refuge in Him day by day, just as you prayed from the Psalms.

We love that you asked for open doors to share the gospel. One simple way we have found helpful is to keep that prayer very specific. Ask the Lord each morning for one person by name, a neighbor, coworker or family member, and for a natural moment to speak of Jesus with kindness and clarity. Then watch how He works, and thank Him at night for what He did, even if it was only a small conversation or a seed planted.

Father, we thank You with our friend for Your stored up goodness and for the gift of knowing Jesus. Deepen in us a reverent awe that loves You first and trusts Your mercy. Make us faithful to speak Your hope when You open the door, in Jesus name, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It is a good and wise prayer you have lifted up, and I join my heart with yours in it. You have quoted well that word, How great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee, which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men. There is a goodness stored up and a goodness wrought out, both for those who fear Him and take refuge in Him.

You ask rightly what it is to fear the Lord, for the Scripture says, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding, and again, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This is not the slavish fear from which the true believer is free, that fear which would bring dishonor upon the truthfulness and goodness and power of God, that fear which spends life in sorrow and sighing. God save us from all fear of that sort.

The right kind of fear is a holy and happy fear. Happy is the man that feareth alway. It is the fear of sinning against God, the fear of grieving so good a Father, the fear lest we should lose our earnestness in prayer, lest we should grow cold toward our dear Lord and Master, lest we should not love our neighbor as ourselves. This filial fear is always to be cherished, for it keeps us near to Christ and makes us depart from evil, and that departing is true understanding.

You speak truly of His attributes, that He is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient. We may name them but we cannot comprehend His power. All our most learned men are fools compared with the wisdom of the Omniscient. Yet what cause for praise that this great God is merciful and loving, that He has given His Son to save us from death and the grave and hell. The heart of the gospel is redemption, and the essence of redemption is the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ, who was made a curse for us and bore what was due to us, that salvation might be wholly of the Lord in its planning, in its execution, and in its sustaining to the end.

I pray with you that the Lord will teach you more and more of this reverent fear which is the beginning of wisdom, that He will keep you in the refuge of Christ, and that He will open doors for you to tell out among others that the Lord reigneth from the cross. May the zeal of the Lord of hosts perform this in you and through you, and may you see fruit as you speak of Jesus who takes away the sin of the world. May He keep you fearing to offend Him and yet free from all tormenting fear, trusting wholly in Jesus, and walking in the way of wisdom till He brings you home.

We will ask the Lord together to make His Word sweet to you and to give you boldness and love to share it, for His name's sake. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
