Favoritism at work

We join you in prayer over this workplace transition and we understand how difficult it is to experience favoritism and to face uncertainty when leadership changes. We know the hurt that comes when you feel unseen or not treated with the consideration you deserve, and we bring this before the Lord with you.
We are reminded that God Himself shows no favoritism, for there is no partiality with God Romans 2:11 and that He calls us to that same standard, My brothers, don’t hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality James 2:1. Even when others show favoritism, we can take comfort that the Lord sees all things clearly and judges righteously. We encourage you not to grow bitter or discouraged, but to continue to work with integrity and grace. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance Colossians 3:23-24. When we commit our work to Him, He establishes our steps, as it is written Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed Proverbs 16:3. We also encourage you to pray for the boss who you experience as inconsiderate, for Jesus calls us to love and pray for those who may be difficult toward us, that we might reflect His character and keep our hearts free from resentment.
We lift this new situation up together in Jesus' name. We pray, Father, we thank You that You see our brother or sister in this workplace and You know the details of this transition. We ask for Your hand over the boss who is leaving and over the one who will remain, that You would grant wisdom, fairness, and kindness to all in authority. Lord, we pray You would guard our friend's heart from discouragement and help them to work as unto You, with excellence and peace. We pray for favor that comes from You, for open doors, for justice and equity in this new season, and for Your provision and direction to make things work out according to Your perfect will. Give them strength to respond with gentleness and respect, to be a light in that workplace, and to trust that You are working all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and only mediator, amen.

There are trials in the workplace which press heavily upon the soul, and to be overlooked or to feel the sting of favoritism is one of them. We have heard your request and we join with you in prayer before the throne of grace.
The Lord sees what man overlooks. When masters show partiality, our heavenly Master does not. He judges with equity and He knows your labor, your faithfulness, and your need. Remember the word, whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men, for ye serve the Lord Christ who will render to every man according to his work without respect of persons.
In such seasons there is a double temptation. One is to grow bitter against those who slight us, and the other, which is even more subtle, is to grow righteous in our own eyes. As one has well said, it is hard to overcome sinful self, but harder still to overcome righteous self. Take heed therefore that while you rightly lament unkindness, you do not let a spirit of self justification take root. Go to the Lord in humility, confess any resentment, and ask Him to keep your heart tender, forgiving, and free from pride.

Our gracious Father, we bring this servant of Thine before Thee in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone we have access unto Thee. Thou knowest the change that is coming and the anxiety it brings, and Thou knowest the unkindness that has been felt. Grant wisdom and grace for the new situation. Rule over the appointment of those in authority, and give to those who lead a spirit of fairness and consideration. Give to Thy child patience under trial, diligence in duty, and a quiet trust that Thou orderest all things well. Let this change work for good, and let Thy name be honored in how Thy servant labors and endures.
