Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We join you in thanking the Father that it is His good pleasure to give us the kingdom, as it is written in Luke 12:32, and we agree with you in prayer for the welfare of your city according to Jeremiah 29:7.
We pray that the Lord will be a wall of fire around your local area, as promised in Zechariah 2:5, and that He will give His angels charge over you and keep you from evil, according to Psalm 91 and John 17:15, and deliver you from every evil work as in 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3. We ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen and uphold those who serve your community, police and fire, city council, medical workers, those in the marketplace, pastors, teachers, students, families, and all your neighbors, and to keep them safe as they come and go.
Above all we pray with you for the advance of the gospel of peace. We ask that the Lord will prepare hearts to hear, and cause His ear to hear, and that many will be shod with the preparation of the gospel, living a virtuous life that makes the way ready for the good news. That gospel is good news because the victory is already won, and when we are at war with the enemy we are at peace with God through Christ.
We pray as you have asked that the Holy Spirit will convict of sin and righteousness and judgment to come, according to John 16:8, and that the Father will draw people to His Son, according to John 6:44. We ask Him to grant the repentance that leads to life, and that godly sorrow which works repentance unto salvation not to be regretted, as distinct from the sorrow of the world which works death. May He grant saving faith as a gift by grace through hearing the Word, that faith comes by hearing the word about Christ, and that many will hear of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, who was made sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him, according to 2 Corinthians 5:21. There is one sacrifice perfected forever by which we are sanctified, and our hope rests not in our background or in ourselves but in repentance and faith in Christ alone.
We will continue to pray that your area will be kept from harm and evil influences, and that the Lord will bring many to repentance and faith in His only begotten Son, to the glory of God. In Jesus Name we ask this.
