Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayers reflect a heart that wants to put God first, and that is the right order. Jesus taught us to pray that the Father's name be honored, His kingdom come and His will be done, and then to bring our daily needs to Him. When we seek His kingdom and His righteousness first, He is faithful to provide what we need according to His riches in Christ.
You asked for wisdom, and Scripture says wisdom is the most important thing to seek. Knowledge gives facts, but wisdom is the right use of knowledge in daily life. It is better than wealth, better than rubies, and nothing we desire can compare to it. Wisdom calls out openly for all to hear, inviting us to come and learn. The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord, which turns us from evil and teaches us to hate what God hates and love what He loves. Wisdom dwells with prudence and sound judgment, and it preserves and keeps those who love it and walk in its ways.
True wisdom is not the wisdom of this world. The world in its wisdom did not know God, and its wisdom comes to nothing. God has shown the wisdom of this world to be foolish. The wisdom that is from above is different. It does not lead to envy and strife, but to purity and peace. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He has been made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. Apart from Him, even the highest human reasoning is empty when it tries to find meaning apart from God. When we compare spiritual things with spiritual, as the Holy Spirit teaches, we learn to speak and live not by man's clever words but by God's revelation, which is the message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
You also prayed for your family to be saved and to grow in hunger for the Word. Salvation is entirely by grace. We are saved not by our own ability but by God's kindness and mercy through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, poured out through Jesus Christ who died and rose again. Through Him we receive the Spirit of adoption, so we can call God our Father. Faith itself is a gift of God, and faith comes by hearing the Word about Christ, who was made sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. It is good to pray that your family will hear that simple gospel, that God would grant repentance that leads to life and draw them to His Son, and that He would convict of sin and righteousness and judgment to come.
For growth, you prayed rightly that you would crave the pure milk of the Word as a newborn craves milk, and that you would be sanctified by the truth, for God's Word is truth. The whole sum of His Word is truth and His righteous judgments endure forever. All Scripture is breathed out by God and is useful to teach what is true, to show us what is wrong, to correct us and to train us in right living. Continue to read it, to understand it, and to model it in godly conversation with family and friends. Jesus prayed not that we be taken out of the world but that we be kept from the evil one, and that is still His prayer for you.
You asked for provision and perseverance, for work, for wise stewardship, for medical care and strength for your bodies. God has promised to supply every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Pray for daily bread, and trust Him to guide you to provision whether through work or other means He provides, and to give you grace to use all He entrusts to you faithfully. Caring for your body with healthy habits and discipline is good, though godliness is of greater value than bodily training, and He calls you to endure to the end by His strength. He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it, for you are His workmanship, His poem, created in Christ Jesus.
You prayed for your local area and for a wall of fire around you. The Lord Himself promises to be a wall of fire around His people, and He gives His angels charge to guard those who trust Him, for angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. He is also able to keep you from evil and to deliver you from the evil one. It is right to seek the welfare of the place where God has placed you and to pray for neighbors, students, teachers, husbands and wives, workers, parents, pastors, law enforcement and leaders, that the Holy Spirit would work in their hearts and that many would hear the gospel and be saved.
May the Lord grant you increasing wisdom and understanding in His ways, keep you in His truth, provide for your daily needs, guard you and your family under His protection, and use you to share the hope of Christ with those around you.
