We see your heart’s desire to seek God’s glory first and trust in His provision, and we join you in lifting this up before the throne of grace. The Lord’s Prayer is indeed a beautiful model for us, reminding us to prioritize God’s kingdom and will above all else before presenting our needs. We are encouraged by your reverence for Scripture and your commitment to honoring the Father’s name.

Let us first address the Scripture reference you mentioned, 1 John 7:18. We must gently point out that 1 John only has 5 chapters, so there may be a typographical error in the verse reference. However, we believe you are likely referring to 1 John 5:18, which says, "We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him." This verse reminds us of the victory we have in Christ and the protection we receive as His children when we walk in obedience.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of reverence and trust, knowing that You are our Provider and Sustainer. We honor Your holy name and ask that Your kingdom would come and Your will be done in our lives, just as it is in heaven. Lord, we lift up our daily needs to You, trusting that You will supply all that we require according to Your riches in glory. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive those who have wronged us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever.

Father, we ask that You would align our desires with Your perfect will. Help us to seek You first in all things, knowing that when we do, You will add all these things unto us (Matthew 6:33). Guard our hearts from anxiety or doubt, and fill us with Your peace as we trust in You. May our lives bring glory to Your name, and may we walk in the victory that Christ has already won for us.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment in all our relationships and decisions. If there are areas where we have strayed from Your commands, whether in thought, word, or deed, convict us by Your Holy Spirit and lead us back to repentance. Help us to walk in purity, holiness, and obedience to Your Word, honoring You in all we do.

Father, thank You that You invite us to come to You as Your children. We honor Your name and ask for Your kingdom to break in more fully, in our hearts, our homes, and our world. How blessedly you have set the prayer in its right order: the Father’s glory first, then your own needs added. That is the very pattern our Lord taught, and it pleases me to see a soul so honoring the divine priority. Let this be no mere form of words, but the true breathing of your heart, for the prayerless, though they repeat a form, never taste the living power.

You fix your hope upon the Father’s will. Then hear this grand truth and let it settle every doubt: “This is the Father’s will which has sent Me.” Christ came not to do His own will, but the will of Him that sent Him, and that will is to save, to receive sinners, to lose none. When guilt whispers you are too foul, remember that when Christ forgives a sinner, it is the Father’s will. “Him that comes to Me I will in no wise cast out.” Go now and see if He will cast you out. Come, you who are stained with every sin, come and put this to the proof.

You ask for daily bread, for forgiveness, for deliverance. It is all contained in that mighty word: “Deliver him from going down to the Pit: I have found a ransom.” The clock of mercy struck in Heaven the very moment of your deliverance, for the time had come; the eternal purpose decreed it. Only look to Jesus, simply trust Him, and you shall be saved from yourself, from the devil, from the wrath to come. Grace will complete what grace begins; He who has delivered you from the power of darkness will deliver you all the way through. Though the Lord may chasten sorely for your profit, He will never give you over to death; the rod is in a Father’s hand, and His anger with your sin shall never blaze into wrath against you.

Make the wall of separation broad in your daily life. Shun everything impure, for you will thereby do most good to the world and find your own safety. As you honor His name, His kingdom comes in you, and His will is done on earth as in Heaven. And when you pray, let your forgiveness of others flow from the forgiveness you have received: “I, even I, am He that blots out your transgressions for My own sake.” He will not exact punishment at the judgment bar, for He remembers your sins no more.

Fear not that your believing will end in failure. The prayer you have lifted will be effectual. The kingdom, the power, and the glory are His forever, and He shall bring you safe to the holy hill of Zion. Only flee now from the wrath to come; lay hold upon the hope set before you. Come and welcome, just as you are, and you shall not be cast away.

You have rightly set the order: first the Father's glory, then our needs. For so the Lord taught us to pray, beginning with the hallowing of His Name and the coming of His kingdom, before we utter a word about daily bread. But mark how even in this prayer He condescends to our infirmity. He does not bid us ask for riches or delicate fare, but only for bread, and that for the day. "Give us this day our daily bread," that we might take no thought for the morrow. This is not a license to idleness, but a remedy for anxiety, fastening our souls on what is truly necessary.

Beware then of turning this petition into an excuse for gluttony or soft living. The rich man in the furnace, the Sodomites in their fullness of bread, those who made a god of their belly, all testify that luxury leads to destruction. Seek first the kingdom and His righteousness, and the necessary provision will be added.

Press also the matter of forgiveness, for you have prayed, "Forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors." This is a fearful clause: you ask God to measure out His mercy to you by the measure you use toward others. Let no root of bitterness remain, but forgive from the heart, even as Christ, when Judas dipped his hand in the dish, still gave him room for repentance.

And when you pray for deliverance from evil, know that the Lord who delivered Paul from the lion's mouth will deliver you from every evil work, that you may resist unto blood, striving against sin. Only do not despair; as long as it is called "today," there is hope. Exhort one another daily, and let your prayer be ever with this mind: not my will, but Thine be done, on earth as in heaven.

Your prayer lays hold of the order Jesus gave us: the Father’s glory comes first, and everything else follows. That is simply trusting what He said about seeking His kingdom and His righteousness, knowing that your own needs are not forgotten. When you hallow His name and long for His will on earth, you are stepping into the only safe place, where the cares of life get measured against eternity and are carried by the One who already holds all rule and authority.

The request for daily bread is honest. We need what sustains life, and the Father knows that. Bread is the daily, tangible reminder that we are dependent. But Jesus also taught that He Himself is the living bread that came down from heaven. The manna that fed Israel could only delay death; the true bread gives life to the world and guarantees that whoever partakes of Him will live forever. So when you ask for bread, you are not just asking for food, you are trusting the One whose body was broken to supply every real need, both now and unendingly.

Forgiveness presses deeper. You recognize that your greatest need is not a full pantry but a clean soul. To stand before God without guilt requires a forgiveness you cannot earn, and it comes only through the cross where His flesh was given for the life of the world. That forgiveness is inseparable from the way you treat the debts others owe you. It is not that your forgiveness earns His, it is that a heart that has truly received mercy cannot hoard it. When you forgive, you are simply letting the bread you have received be broken again for someone else.

Then you pray about temptation. This is a humble cry, because Scripture makes it plain that God never solicits anyone toward evil. That whisper suggesting you can have immediate fulfillment if you just step off His path, that is not from Him. It is the same voice that told Eve that God was holding back something good, the same lie that offered Jesus all the kingdoms without the cross. Asking, “Lead us not into temptation” is asking to be kept from situations that would inflame fleshly desires and pull your heart away. And when temptation does press in, you are not abandoned; a way of escape is always provided, but you must take it. The prayer is a daily decision to trust that God’s way of escape is better than the shortcut.

Deliverance from evil, that is the final petition. It is a plea for rescue from the evil one and from the evil still lurking within. The cross that looked like defeat was actually Satan’s undoing, and the risen Christ now breaks the power of sin. When you break bread in communion with Him and with His body, you are declaring that your life is united with His and with all who are partakers of that one loaf. That shared bread is a sign that you do not face the battle alone.

So continue praying this way. You are not just reciting words, you are aligning with what Jesus taught and with the Father’s eternal purpose. The kingdom, the power, and the glory are His, and that never changes. When you close with thanksgiving in Jesus’ name, you are standing on the only ground where bread, forgiveness, and victory are sure.
