Your request for your father in law has been heard and we join you in earnest prayer before the throne of grace for him in his sickness and in his need of salvation.
We are reminded that all the nations are sick and that our Lord Jesus Christ is the true Tree of Life of whom it is written, the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but even the leaves, the little things about Christ, are full of healing virtue. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, for pardon and healing are one in His hand. We will pray that the Lord will lay His healing hand upon your father in law according to His perfect will, and that the Sun of Righteousness may rise upon him with healing in His wings.
Yet we feel most deeply the burden you carry for his soul, for he does not yet believe in Jesus. This is the greater sickness, and Christ is the only cure. Salvation is of the Lord alone, and it is to be found in none other. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. The way of salvation is to believe on Christ, whom God has laid in Zion for a foundation. What is believing on Him but to trust in Him, to depend upon Him without fear as to present and eternal salvation, to look unto Him and be saved. How simple and how instantaneous is that way. A look does not require a moment, and whosoever looks to Jesus by faith shall live.
Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this sick man. If it be Thy will, restore his body and raise him up for Thy glory. Above all, we beseech Thee, have mercy upon his soul. Open his eyes to see himself a sinner in need of a Savior, and open his heart to look unto Jesus and be saved. Grant that he may trust in Christ alone, without money and without price, and find in Him pardon, life and peace. Comfort this family, give them opportunity and boldness to speak of Christ to him, and keep them trusting in Thy sovereign grace which is able to save to the uttermost. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus our only hope, Amen.
