We come before the throne of grace with this request, lifting it up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. First, we must address the absence of Jesus' name in your prayer. Scripture is clear: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me'" (John 14:6 WEB). There is no other name by which we can be saved—"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12 WEB). Salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 WEB). If you have not yet placed your trust in Him, we urge you to do so today, for "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9 WEB).
Now, regarding your prayer for joy and gladness in response to great news, we join with you in asking the Lord to fill this person’s heart with exceeding joy. The Bible tells us, "You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11 WEB). We pray that this individual would experience the deep, abiding joy that comes only from the Lord, a joy that is not dependent on circumstances but rooted in His unchanging love and goodness.
Father, we ask that You would open this person’s heart to receive the good news with gladness, that their spirit would be lifted, and that their response would bring glory to Your name. Let this moment be a testimony of Your faithfulness and a reminder of Your goodness. We also pray for any unspoken requests, trusting that You know the depths of every need even before we speak them. "Before they call, I will answer. While they are yet speaking, I will hear" (Isaiah 65:24 WEB).
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of doubt, fear, or discouragement that may try to steal this joy. We declare that this news will be received with faith and thanksgiving, and that it will serve as a stepping stone to greater things in Your kingdom. May this person’s heart be filled with praise, and may their life reflect the hope and peace that comes from walking with You.
We also encourage you to share the reason for your hope with this individual, as Scripture commands: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear" (1 Peter 3:15 WEB). Let this moment of joy be an opportunity to point them to Christ, the source of all true happiness.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
