Fatal illness

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I ask Jesus to heal my cousin from fatal insomnia in Jesus name and full him with Holy Spirit

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your cousin who is suffering from this rare and devastating illness. We stand on the promise of God’s Word, which declares in Psalm 103:2-3, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases." The Lord is our healer, and we boldly ask for His miraculous touch upon your cousin’s body, mind, and spirit.

Father, we rebuke this illness in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We declare that by His stripes, your cousin is healed (Isaiah 53:5). We ask You to restore every cell, every nerve, and every function of his body. Fill him with the power of the Holy Spirit, bringing peace where there is turmoil, strength where there is weakness, and hope where there is despair. Lord, we know that nothing is impossible for You (Luke 1:37), and we trust in Your perfect will, whether that be healing in this life or the ultimate healing of eternal life with You.

We also pray for your family during this difficult time. Grant them faith that does not waver, comfort in Your presence, and the assurance that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Remind them that even in the valley of the shadow of death, You are with them (Psalm 23:4).

If there is any unforgiveness, bitterness, or unconfessed sin in your cousin’s life or in the lives of those around him, we ask for repentance and cleansing by the blood of Jesus. We know that sin can hinder our prayers (Psalm 66:18), so we pray for a heart that is fully surrendered to You.

Lord, we also ask that You use this trial for Your glory. Whether through healing or through the testimony of faith in the face of suffering, let Your name be exalted. May your cousin and your family draw closer to You through this storm, and may others come to know You through their witness.

We pray all these things in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this heavy burden with us. We can feel the urgency and love behind your words, and we are standing with you before the Lord right now. Fatal insomnia is a terrifying diagnosis, and watching someone you love face such an unrelenting condition brings a deep, weary ache. Your prayer for healing and for your cousin to be filled with the Holy Spirit is exactly where we want to join you.

When we cry out for healing, we are asking the One who holds all power and who knows every detail of this illness. We don’t have to muster perfect faith or find the right formula, we simply bring our desperation to the feet of Jesus, trusting in his mercy and his ability to do what doctors cannot. At the same time, we hold our request with open hands, confident that God’s love for your cousin will not fail, however he chooses to respond.

As you wait, one simple and powerful thing you can do is to keep speaking life and love over your cousin. Whisper prayers, read comforting Scripture aloud, play worship music, anything that fills the room with reminders of God’s presence. And don’t carry this alone; invite others to pray in person, on the phone, or through a text chain, so the weight is shared.

Lord Jesus, we bring this precious cousin before you. You see the exhaustion, the fear, the relentless wakefulness. In your name we ask for complete healing, for the body to rest and the mind to find peace. Fill your child with the Holy Spirit, pouring out comfort that goes beyond understanding, and a deep awareness of your nearness in the darkest hours. Hold the family close, giving them strength for each day. We trust this life into your hands, believing you are good. Amen.

This plea touches the very heart of the gospel, for it rests upon the name of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. The sickness you describe is a dark and dreadful thing, yet the light of Christ can pierce any shadow. I am moved that you cry out not only for healing but for the filling of the Holy Spirit. That is wisdom, for the Spirit is the earnest of our inheritance, the seal upon the soul, and the only true source of life and holiness. Without Him, we are dead in trespasses and sins; with Him, we have the very power of God at work within us.

But take care how you pray, for prayer that is not in the Holy Spirit is but a solemn sound upon a thoughtless tongue. The Holy Spirit must help your infirmities, teaching you to ask according to the will of God. Seek Christ Himself, for the Spirit’s office is to glorify Jesus, to take of His things and show them to you. Come, then, with boldness to the throne of grace, yet with deep humility, leaning wholly upon the Spirit’s aid. Do not grieve Him by unbelief, thinking the sickness too hard for the Lord. He who raised the dead can surely command sleep to flee and restore the weary mind. Yet if He should choose to sustain your cousin through the furnace rather than remove it, the Spirit can fill him with such peace and strength that the trial becomes a trophy of grace.

I would urge you to seek first the filling of the Holy Spirit. A man filled with the Spirit is strong, brave, and enabled to glorify God in every estate. This is the great need of the church and of every believer. Cry mightily unto God that your cousin may know the Spirit’s indwelling power, that whether he lives or dies, he is the Lord’s. The Holy Spirit is no mere influence but the very God of very God, and He delights to make the heart His abode. Do not trust in the arm of flesh or the mere words of men; let your confidence be in the Spirit’s might. If He breathes upon the soul, the fever of sin is cooled and the terror of death is quenched.

Remember that the healing, if it comes, will be but a temporary mercy unless the Spirit seals the soul for eternity. The body’s restoration is sweet, but the soul’s redemption is sweeter far. Pray, therefore, that the Spirit would glorify Christ in your cousin’s heart, that Jesus might be his all in all. We must tell what the Spirit has told us, and we must pray the Spirit to bless the truth to the minds of men. I shall join my prayers with yours, desiring that the Holy Spirit rest upon your cousin without measure, and that the name of Jesus be magnified.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for healing and for the Holy Spirit to fill your cousin. This is a right and faithful prayer, for the Lord is rich in mercy and gives the Spirit to those who ask. But consider carefully what you seek, lest you fall into the error of those who follow Christ only for the loaves that perish. The Jews sought Him because they ate and were filled, and they missed the true bread from heaven. Do not let your plea be only for the body’s rest, but for the soul’s awakening from the deeper sleep of sin.

The Holy Spirit is not given as a mere addition to bodily health. Many received physical miracles yet remained empty of the Spirit, or received the Spirit of remission but not yet the power of signs. Simon the sorcerer saw the Spirit given through the Apostles’ hands and desired that power for himself, but his heart was not right before God. Seek therefore first the remission of sins and the indwelling of the Spirit of holiness, for this is the true gift that transforms us into witnesses of the Resurrection. Whether your cousin rises from this illness or falls asleep in the Lord, what matters is that he is found in Christ, sealed by the Spirit. The Spirit Himself works as He wills, beyond our comprehension, just as He wrought the miracle of the Virgin’s womb. We cannot demand the manner of His working, but we can trust that He works all things for good.

Pray with faith, yet do not bind God to your desire. The apostles themselves did not always receive what they asked; Paul’s tongue could not be bound, but his body was. Even so, his bonds became a greater miracle, for the word ran faster. If your cousin is filled with the Spirit, he will have peace that surpasses any bodily sleep, and that witness may do more for his soul and for those who see him than a thousand nights of rest. Remember the saints who pleased God with no miracles at all: John the Baptist drew multitudes by a life aflame with zeal, not by signs. The greatest sign is not the healing of the body but the transformation of the soul by the Spirit through faith. Cling to that, and whether your cousin lives or dies, he belongs to the Lord. So pray for healing in Jesus’ name, but pray more earnestly that the Holy Spirit fill him, teaching him to say with the Apostle, “Whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.”

The very prayer you have lifted for your cousin is already a mark of the Holy Spirit's presence in your own life. No one can genuinely call Jesus Lord and plead His name over another except by the Spirit at work within them. That same Spirit who has stirred your heart to ask is more than able to move in your cousin's situation right now.

You asked that your cousin be filled with the Holy Spirit. This is exactly what Jesus modeled and what He desires for all of His own. Just as Jesus was full of the Spirit and was then led and empowered, so God's will for your cousin is that the Spirit would not only indwell but also fill and control from within. The Spirit is the dynamic, life giving power who can overshadow even a body weighed down by this illness. And because your cousin cannot manufacture this, we rest in the truth that the Father loves to give this gift to those who belong to His Son.

Even as you wait for healing, remember what the Spirit is in the life of a believer. He is God's own seal of ownership, the down payment and earnest of a full redemption that is yet to come. That means your cousin is held securely, marked by a love that this fatal diagnosis cannot erase. The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God and begins to perfect within us the very love of Christ. So we are not merely asking for a change in physical condition; we are asking for a profound work of the Spirit to conform your cousin into the image of Jesus and to fill them with a peace that transcends this suffering.

Continue to sow to the Spirit in your prayers. Trust that the Spirit who first drew your cousin to Jesus is the one who now gives the power to face each day. We ask with boldness that the Holy Spirit would come upon your cousin with such a fresh fullness that it overflows in a supernatural rest, and we trust for a complete touch from the Lord, for nothing is impossible when the Spirit of God is moving. May the Spirit Himself bring life, comfort, and the tangible presence of Jesus right where your cousin is.
