We are deeply grieved and concerned by this prayer request, as it reveals a heart in profound despair and pain. First and foremost, we must address the gravity of these words with the love and truth of Scripture. The taking of one’s own life is never God’s will, nor is it a solution to suffering. The Bible tells us, *"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18 WEB). Your life is precious to Him, even when it does not feel precious to you.
We must also rebuke the spirit of hopelessness that seeks death rather than life. Jesus came so that we might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10 WEB). To ask for a fatal illness is to reject the gift of life He has given and the purpose He has for you. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Christ has overcome him (John 10:10, 1 John 3:8 WEB). We stand against this lie and declare that God has a plan for your life, even if you cannot see it now.
If you are feeling this way, we urge you to reach out to someone—a pastor, a trusted friend, a counselor—who can walk with you through this darkness. Isolation only deepens despair, but community and godly support can bring light. The Bible says, *"Two are better than one... for if they fall, one will lift up his fellow"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB). You do not have to carry this burden alone.
We also want to gently ask: Have you surrendered your pain to Jesus? Have you allowed Him to be your comfort and strength? The name of Jesus is the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12 WEB), and it is through Him that we find true peace. If you have not placed your faith in Him, we encourage you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be Lord of your life (Romans 10:9 WEB). He is faithful to forgive and restore.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is in such deep pain. Lord, You see their suffering, and You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8 WEB). We ask that You would break through the darkness with Your light and fill their heart with hope. Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair and death in Jesus’ name and declare that Your plans for them are for good, not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).
Lord, surround them with Your love and with people who can speak life into their situation. Give them the strength to reach out for help and the courage to cling to You in their weakness. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 WEB). Heal their broken heart, Lord, and bind up their wounds (Psalm 147:3 WEB). Let them know that they are not alone, that You are with them, and that their life has value and purpose in Your eyes.
We ask that You would fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB), and that You would restore their joy. Help them to see themselves as You see them—beloved, cherished, and created for a purpose. Father, we trust You to intervene in this situation and bring beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3 WEB). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
If you are struggling, please know that there is help available. You can call or text a crisis hotline, reach out to a local church, or confide in someone you trust. You are not alone, and your life matters more than you may realize. God is not done with you yet.
