Today, my husband was joking about divorce to our child and me. It is not the first time he has joked about divorce. Our child said they would force us to get back together. I turned to our with a somber but calm face and said, "I am not leaving your daddy. I'm not going anywhere. You don't have to worry about me."
After pondering this, I need to pray for our Lord and Savior to help me be mindful of the words that I speak. Not only me, but also my husband's. This is not speaking life into our marriage, our family, or home. Whether he says it in a humorous manner or not, it should not be spoken. Proverbs 18:21 states, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” I need to remind myself of this.
I need to speak life into my family, use encouraging words focusing on blessings, strength, love, and unity, like declaring "We walk in God's peace and unfailing love" or "Together, we're an unbreakable, blessed force," replacing negativity with affirmations of faith and connection to build a foundation of mutual support and joy. I need to put it into practice in my home.
"Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you in prayer, asking for your guidance and strength. Today, my husband made a joke about divorce in front of our child. This is not the first time, and it pains me to hear these words. Lord, help me to be mindful of the power of my words and to speak life into my family. I pray that you would also touch my husband's heart and remind him of the damaging effects of his words.
Please give me the wisdom and grace to speak encouraging words that focus on love, unity, and blessings. Help me to be a source of peace and support for my family. I pray that we may walk in your unfailing love and be an unbreakable, blessed force together.
Lord, I ask for your forgiveness for any times I have spoken negatively about my marriage or family. Help me to put into practice the power of positive words in my home. May our words be filled with faith and connection, building a strong foundation of love and unity.
I trust in your plans for my family and know that you have brought us together for a beautiful purpose. Please continue to guide and strengthen us each day. In Your precious name, I pray. Amen."
