For Christ’s Sake
God’s mercy comes only through Christ, so turn from your own worth and plead His name for forgiveness and life.
We join with you in praying for unity and love in your family and we rejoice to see your heart to be bound together by the love of Christ. This is the very heart of God for the family, which He ordained as a place of love, refuge, and faithfulness.

We are encouraged by your desire to walk in humility, patience, and kindness and to forgive as you have been forgiven. Scripture calls us to this very way of life when it says, with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace Ephesians 4:2-3. And again we are told to put on love, which is the bond of perfection Colossians 3:14, and to bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do Colossians 3:13. How good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity Psalm 133:1, and above all things we are reminded to be fervent in love among ourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins 1 Peter 4:8.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up this family to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for Your love and Your forgiveness toward us through the cross. We ask that You pour out Your love anew upon each member of this family, that You would bind them together in Christ and make their home a testimony of Your grace. Help them to walk in true humility, patience, and kindness toward one another, to be quick to forgive and slow to take offense, remembering how You have forgiven us. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and deepen each one's personal relationship with You, that You would be the center of their home. Let Your peace rule in their hearts and let Your Word dwell richly among them, so that in all they do they may reflect Your love. We ask that You guard them from division and bitterness and build them up in unity by Your Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pursue this unity daily through prayer together, through speaking truth in love, and through serving one another. As you keep Christ at the center, He will continue to strengthen the bonds of your marriage and family and draw each of you closer to Himself.

We appreciate you bringing your family before the Lord so simply and sincerely. Your desire for unity, kindness and a deeper walk with Him is beautiful and we are praying with you for it.

We know family love is not just a feeling but daily choices. Forgiveness for example is often first a decision to release the debt and treat one another as valued, and then more slowly a softening of the heart as resentment is replaced with compassion. Both matter, and both take time. Humility and patience grow in the same way, in small moments of putting another's needs before our own and bearing with one another in love when irritations arise.

One simple step that helps many families is to set aside a few unhurried minutes together each week, perhaps after a meal, to pray briefly together, to name one way you have seen God's kindness, and to clear any small hurt before it grows. It does not need to be long to be meaningful.

Father, we lift this family to You. Draw each heart closer to Jesus and closer to one another. Teach them to forgive as they have been forgiven, to walk in humility and patience, and to show kindness in everyday words and actions. Strengthen their faith and let Your love be evident in their home. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your prayer for your family is a sweet and holy petition, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.

How good it is to ask that you may be bound together by the love of Christ, for it is His love abounding toward us that creates love within us. We love because He first loved us, and that love is a spark of the eternal flame of His love for us. When that love dwells in a home, it teaches humility and patience and kindness, and it makes us tender toward one another.

You have prayed rightly, that you may forgive each other as God for your sake has forgiven you in Christ. Remember that there is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared and loved and praised. It is a divine forgiveness, complete and eternal, purchased by the blood of Jesus who died, the Just for the unjust, to bring us to God. Because we have in Him a full forgiveness, we are to set before us the example of God Himself and forgive freely, not in our own name but in Christ's name and for His sake, because we love Him. This is true charity, that holy love which is the choicest of the graces of God.

May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. That patience is wondrous, for He bears with us, weeps over us, and draws us with constancy of love. As you enter into His patience with you and for you, you will find strength to walk in humility and patience toward one another, to forbear and to forgive, to act not only justly but kindly in all things.

We pray with you:

Our Father, we thank You that there is forgiveness with You through Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask You to pour out Your love upon this family, that they may be knit together in unity and peace. Teach them to forgive as they have been forgiven, to clothe themselves with humility, patience and kindness, and to reflect Your love in all they do. Strengthen their faith, deepen their fellowship with You, and cause their home to be a place where Christ is honored and His grace is seen. Keep them abiding in Your love, that their love for You and for one another may never grow cold, but may abound more and more, in Jesus name, Amen.
