Your prayer for your family is a sweet and holy petition, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.
How good it is to ask that you may be bound together by the love of Christ, for it is His love abounding toward us that creates love within us. We love because He first loved us, and that love is a spark of the eternal flame of His love for us. When that love dwells in a home, it teaches humility and patience and kindness, and it makes us tender toward one another.
You have prayed rightly, that you may forgive each other as God for your sake has forgiven you in Christ. Remember that there is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared and loved and praised. It is a divine forgiveness, complete and eternal, purchased by the blood of Jesus who died, the Just for the unjust, to bring us to God. Because we have in Him a full forgiveness, we are to set before us the example of God Himself and forgive freely, not in our own name but in Christ's name and for His sake, because we love Him. This is true charity, that holy love which is the choicest of the graces of God.
May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. That patience is wondrous, for He bears with us, weeps over us, and draws us with constancy of love. As you enter into His patience with you and for you, you will find strength to walk in humility and patience toward one another, to forbear and to forgive, to act not only justly but kindly in all things.
We pray with you:
Our Father, we thank You that there is forgiveness with You through Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask You to pour out Your love upon this family, that they may be knit together in unity and peace. Teach them to forgive as they have been forgiven, to clothe themselves with humility, patience and kindness, and to reflect Your love in all they do. Strengthen their faith, deepen their fellowship with You, and cause their home to be a place where Christ is honored and His grace is seen. Keep them abiding in Your love, that their love for You and for one another may never grow cold, but may abound more and more, in Jesus name, Amen.
