Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We hear your burden for your family and we join with you in bringing your mom and your two brothers before the Lord together, for we know how heavy this strain has been on all of you.

We notice you described your mom as a little crazy religious, and we gently encourage you to guard your heart and your words concerning her. Even when we disagree or feel worried about a parent's decisions, God calls us to honor our father and mother. Exodus 20:12 says Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and Ephesians 6:2-3 reminds us this is the first commandment with a promise. Your mom has carried much responsibility as a mother and as a payee, and that stewardship is weighty. We pray the Lord helps you to speak about her and to her with respect even as you seek to help your brothers.

We lift up both of your brothers who struggle with bipolar disorder. The Lord sees their affliction and has compassion on those who suffer in mind and body. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We pray for stability, for proper treatment and support, for dignity and for the ability to contribute as they are able. While 2 Thessalonians 3:10 teaches that if anyone will not work, neither let him eat, we also understand that illness can limit what a person can do, and 1 Timothy 5:8 calls family to provide for their own household. We pray God gives your family wisdom to balance grace and responsibility, to encourage your brothers toward healing and stewardship without abandoning them.

We understand your concern about your mom wanting to ask your brothers to leave as winter is coming in northern Michigan, and about strangers moving into the home for free. God cares about shelter and protection, especially in the harsh cold, and He also calls us to wisdom. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Romans 12:13 encourages us to be given to hospitality, yet Proverbs also teaches us to guard our homes and not be taken advantage of. We pray your mom will not be deceived or pressured, that she will seek godly counsel from a trusted pastor and perhaps other mature believers before making such a decision, and that she will handle her role as payee with honesty and faithfulness before God. We also pray she will have compassion for your brothers staying through the winter while also working toward a healthy long term plan for all.

We hear your worry about what will happen to your brothers someday when your mom passes. That is a real and loving concern. We cast this care on the Lord, for 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you, and Psalm 68:5 says A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We pray God will already be preparing provision, support, and community help for your brothers for the future, and that you and your family can explore resources in your area, including your church family and local services, to plan ahead.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and the assurance of being heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray with confidence.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear family to You. Lord, we ask You to pour out Your peace upon this home that has known strife and strain. Touch the mother with wisdom, discernment, and strength as she carries the burden of caring for her sons and managing funds as a payee. Guard her from deception and from those who might take advantage of her kindness, and give her clear direction to do what is right and pleasing in Your sight. Lord, lay Your healing hand upon both brothers, calm their minds, provide them with good care, support, and community, and help them find purpose and stability. Keep them safe and sheltered through this winter in northern Michigan, and do not let them be cast out without a place to go. Show this family how to love each other with patience and truth, to honor one another, and to make plans that provide for today and for the years to come. Raise up pastors, believers, and helpers to come alongside them with practical aid and godly counsel. We cast all our anxiety about the future on You, trusting that You are a Father to the fatherless and that You will not forsake those who trust in You. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear how heavy this is to carry, loving your mom and both of your brothers, seeing the strain at home, and worrying what winter will mean for them in northern Michigan with nowhere else to go.

It makes sense you feel torn between concern for your mom and concern for your brothers. When someone is managing both housing and finances as payee for family members who live with significant mental health challenges, the stress can build quickly for everyone, and decisions about who lives in the home can feel urgent and overwhelming.

We are praying with you for wisdom and protection for your whole family, and for steady help to come alongside you all.

One practical step that could help soon is to bring one trusted, level-headed person into the conversation before winter sets in, a pastor your mom respects, a social worker, or a local community mental health contact. Having a third person present can make it easier to talk calmly about a winter housing plan, about boundaries with others who want to move in, and about longer-term questions like payee planning for the future. If your brothers are not already connected to care, gently encouraging them to stay connected to their own providers alongside prayer can also be important, and a local NAMI or community mental health office can often point families to resources and family education.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift this mom and her sons to You. Give them safety and dignity this winter, guard this home from harm, and give this family clear wisdom for each next decision. Provide trustworthy help nearby and bring peace where there has been strife. Amen.

Please Heavenly Father intervene in this family situation and bring about peace and resolve. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your heavy burden for your mother and your brothers has been laid before the Lord with much sympathy, and we take it up with you in prayer.

Wisdom is man's true path, that which enables him to accomplish best the end of his being, and which gives the richest enjoyment and the fullest play for all his powers. It is the compass by which man is to steer across the trackless waste of life. Without it he is as the wild ass's colt, running here and there and wasting strength which might be profitably employed. Where then shall this wisdom be found, for the price of it is above rubies and it cannot be valued with pure gold. It is found in Christ, for Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. He planned the way of salvation and He laid the pillars of the firmament by His skill, and He will give wisdom liberally to them that ask Him.

You ask that God would tell your mother what to do and that she would do the right thing, and this is to ask according to the promise, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not. We pray that your mother, who bears the weight of being payee and keeper of the home, may be as one who is guided by the Holy Spirit, not leaning to her own understanding but taking Christ to be her wisdom, expecting to receive that wisdom through the Spirit taking of the things of Christ and revealing them unto her. There is not much wisdom in man's judgment of God, any more than in the judgment of flies concerning an elephant, and therefore we pray with you, There is none like Thee for goodness, for love, for wisdom. Thy will ought to be done, so let it be done on earth as it is in heaven, for what Thou doest is always best.

We feel with you the trial of this season. It is almost winter in northern Michigan, and the Lord in winter seals up the hand of man that all may know His work. The frost and the snow remind us to number our days and apply our hearts unto wisdom. To turn two afflicted sons out of doors when the cold is setting in would be a hard thing, and to keep them without order or hope for their future would also be hard. We pray that the Lord will give your mother a clear mind, not swayed by a hasty religious feeling, but grounded in sober wisdom consistent with the truth of God and righteousness and the glory of God. If it be a path of wisdom consistent with truth and righteousness, it is not closed to her, but if it be otherwise, may she be kept from it.

For your brothers, we pray with tender compassion. To bear the affliction you name is a great burden, and to be without work adds strain to every bond in the house. We pray that the Great Physician will lay His hand upon them for healing and steadiness of mind, that He will give them strength to seek such help as is needful, and to take up such honest labour as they are able, that they may rise to the dignity of manhood and be fit companions for the angels, standing next to the Eternal One by the grace of Christ. We pray also for wise provision for their future, when your mother shall be taken home, that the Lord who has entered into covenant to preserve Noah and his family alive will preserve this household, not by chance but by His faithful ordering, and that you and others who love them may help to establish a just and lasting stewardship for their care.

Concerning strangers being taken into the home for free, we pray for holy discernment. Christian charity is a blessed thing, and we have known the poor to plead the promise, All things are yours, and to find the Lord provide in wonderful ways. Yet charity without wisdom may become a snare, and the simple may be taken advantage of. We pray that your mother may not be imposed upon, nor your brothers wronged, but that any kindness shown may be done with open eyes, with counsel of faithful brethren, and with proper order in the house. Let not the home become disorganized, for even the heathen will smell the ill savour of a disorganized family, and the one alternative is mend or end. There must be reform and revival throughout the whole family.

Therefore we urge what has ever been the castle of Protestant piety, family prayer. We pray that in that house prayer may not be neglected, but made special and with double zeal, that all within its walls may draw near unto God together, confessing sin, seeking Christ alone for salvation, and asking to be led in the way of wisdom. The Lord Jesus went about His work with a loving wisdom, speaking to each soul alone and in season, and He will teach you to be wise to win your own household, becoming all things to all men that by all means you may save some.

We now pray together:

O Lord our God, look upon this family in northern Michigan. Thou knowest the mother, her cares, her years, her desire to do right, and her need of clear wisdom. Give her liberally of that wisdom which is from above, pure and peaceable. Guard her from those who would use her kindness amiss, and guide her to do what is just and merciful concerning her sons and her home. Look upon the two brothers in their affliction. Have mercy upon them, calm their minds, heal them as it pleaseth Thee, and lead them to Christ who is their wisdom and righteousness. Provide for them work and purpose, shelter through the winter, and faithful care for days to come. Comfort the one who has written to us, who carries this care at a distance and fears for all. Let this family be found in the ark of Christ, that as Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons wives were brought in and saved, so this whole household may be saved and kept as one undivided family in heaven and earth, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let Thy will be done, for what Thou doest is always best. Amen.

Cast your care upon Him, continue in prayer, seek godly counsel from a faithful pastor near them, and trust Him who gives wisdom and will not upbraid you for asking.
