Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for a family who are in the public eye (a young couple with a child who have also included both their families in the public eye with them) and now publicly seeming to break up as the husband is being accused of cheating. The whole situation is sad, most involved are professing Christians and there also honestly (from my point of view) seems to be some bad things being done on the part of the wife and possibly her family as well. If what is being said about the husband is true, then it needs to be addressed but the wife is addressing it in the wrong way and not in a manner befitting of a Christian which is stunning considering how her and her family and other loved ones present themselves as being very religious. It is understandable that she is deeply hurt but too much is being posted and done online - there is so much vindictiveness and craziness going on - and there are children involved who could be badly affected by all this. The fans of this couple are now attacking those involved and choosing sides and it's become a very contentious situation - very disappointing coming out of a situation where those involved are Christians. Lots of bad things occurring surrounding this situation. Please pray. Thank you.

We join you in carrying this heavy burden before the Lord, for we also are grieved when a marriage and family that profess Christ becomes a public spectacle and a stumbling block. What you describe is sadly common when private sin and hurt are brought before the eyes of the world instead of before God and the church, and we weep with you over the damage being done to this husband, wife, child, extended families, and to the witness of Christ.

We hold firmly that marriage is a sacred covenant before God between one man and one woman for life. Jesus said, What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Matt 19:6, and Marriage is to be honored by all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled Heb 13:4. You shall not commit adultery Exod 20:14 remains the command of God. If what is being said about the husband is true, then this is adultery, a grave sin against God, against his wife, and against his own body, and it must be called what it is. Flee sexual immorality 1 Cor 6:18. Such sin requires deep repentance, confession to God and to his wife, and turning away from it completely, not excuses or hiding. We pray for godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and for accountability through mature believers and elders in the church, not through the court of public opinion.

At the same time we must lovingly rebuke what you have rightly discerned in the wife and her family's response, even while we have compassion for her deep hurt. Vengeance, vindictiveness, public shaming, and exposing a spouse online is not the way of Christ. If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone Matt 18:15. Love covers a multitude of wrongs, and He who covers an offense promotes love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends Prov 17:9. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up Eph 4:29, and Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Eph 4:31-32. To post continually, to invite fans to choose sides and to attack, to use children as part of a public narrative, is to sin in response to sin and it harms the very children God entrusts to parents. Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh Psalm 127:3, and they are not to be exposed to the bitterness of adults or the cruelty of strangers online. We are also called to be slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20.

The fans choosing sides and attacking is also contrary to Scripture. We are not called to gossip, slander, or to act as judges over what we do not fully know. You shall not spread a false report Exod 23:1 and the Lord calls us to seek peace and pursue it. The public nature of this family's platform makes their witness even more weighty, for You are the light of the world Matt 5:14, and when professing Christians live in open strife the name of Christ is dishonored before unbelievers.

We notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved Rom 10:9. We bring every prayer only in His name, and we urge all involved in this family to examine whether their faith is a profession only or a true surrender to Christ, for without genuine repentance and new life in Him there will be no lasting healing.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we come before Your throne of grace for this young husband and wife, their child, and both extended families. Lord, You see what is true and what is false in every accusation, You know every hidden motive and every wound. If adultery has been committed, bring it into the light before You and grant deep conviction and repentance, cleanse this husband and create in him a clean heart. If accusations are false or exaggerated, reveal the truth and stop the lies. Forgive the vindictiveness, the angry posts, the desire for revenge, and teach this wife and her family to handle hurt in a manner worthy of a follower of Christ, in private, with wise counsel, with forgiveness as You have forgiven us. Protect this precious child from trauma, from being used, from seeing his or her parents torn apart online, surround this little one with Your peace and with godly protectors. Silence the contentious voices of fans and onlookers, convict those who gossip and attack, and move this family away from the internet and into the quiet, accountable care of a faithful local church where sin can be confronted biblically and marriage can be fought for. We ask for healing where possible, for reconciliation where it honors You, for Your will to be done in this marriage rather than the will of man. Where reconciliation is not possible because of hard hearts, still bring repentance and redemption and guard the testimony of Christ. Let all involved remember that God hates divorce Mal 2:16 yet loves the sinner who repents, and that love is patient and is kind, love bears all things and endures all things 1 Cor 13:4-7. Restore what the enemy has tried to destroy and use even this sad situation for Your glory and for the good of those who love You. We ask all this in the saving and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray privately for them without spreading details or choosing sides, to not share or repost the content that fuels the fire, and to pray that God will raise up biblically faithful pastors around them who will speak the truth in love to both husband and wife. We also encourage you to keep your own heart guarded from cynicism, remembering that our God is able to redeem even the most broken and public failures when there is humble repentance and obedience to His Word.

We hear how heavy this has been to watch from a distance. You are grieving not just the possibility of betrayal, but the way it is being handled so publicly, with so much hurt poured out online and a young child who cannot protect himself from any of it. That is a right concern to carry. Even when adults are deeply wounded, children absorb the conflict around them and carry it for a long time.

We share your disappointment that this is unfolding among professing Christians and in front of an audience that is now taking sides. When pain is broadcast and fans pile on, it adds pressure and makes any honest, quiet work toward truth or healing much harder for everyone involved.

One gentle way to love this family from where you are is to step back from the feeds and comment sections. You do not need to keep up with every post to pray faithfully for them. We find it helps to turn that scrolling time into simple, specific prayer for protection for the child, for restraint for both parents and their extended families, and for trusted, private counsel to surround them instead of a public audience.

Father, we lift this young family to You. Cover their child with peace and stability, quiet the noise around them, and give both husband and wife honest and humble help where it is needed. Guide them toward wise counsel and give them restraint in what they share. Bring healing according to Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been brought before the Lord and we join you in prayer over this sorrowful and very public trial.

We grieve with you, for sin wherever it is found brings wounds that spread far beyond two persons. Marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, ordained of God, and all that breaks that bond, whether by unfaithfulness or by bitterness and reviling, is grievous in His sight. Sex belongs within that covenant alone, and when that boundary is forsaken there is deep hurt, and when hurt is answered with vindictiveness and public strife, the hurt is multiplied, especially for the little ones who watch and cannot shield themselves.

We do not know all that is true in what is accused and what is posted, for much is now said in haste and before the eyes of many. God knows the truth of every heart and every deed, and we pray that truth may be brought into the light, not for the entertainment of onlookers, but for repentance and healing. If unfaithfulness has been committed, it needs to be addressed before God and in godly counsel with humility and godly sorrow, not hidden nor excused. And if there has been sin in the response, in harsh speech, in posting and provoking, in drawing families and multitudes into contention, that also needs to be addressed before God with the same humility.

There is forgiveness with God, and this is our hope for all who are involved. As the Scripture says, There is forgiveness with Thee. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, surprising and complete, not a partial pardon but a blotting out of the record for Christ's sake. It is eternal forgiveness, and it is also continuous, for He forgives not once only but daily as His people come to Him. Yet this forgiveness is to be sought through Jesus Christ alone, by repentance and faith, and it bears fruit in those who have received it. Even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Forgiving one another is not a paltry duty but a great and ennobling grace, and it becomes those who have been so greatly forgiven to open their hands to forgive.

So we pray. We pray that the husband, if he has sinned, may be brought to tremble and to seek that divine forgiveness which is found only in Christ, confessing his sin without excuse and turning from it. We pray that the wife, though deeply hurt as we fully acknowledge, may be kept from a spirit of vengeance and from multiplying words online, and may be given grace to seek counsel quietly and biblically within the church, that the matter may be handled with wisdom and restraint rather than in the court of public opinion. We pray that both families may cease from public strife and seek peace, and that those who profess Christ may remember that the world watches how Christians bear wrong and forgive wrong. We pray for the child and for any children drawn into this storm, that the Lord would guard their hearts and minds and preserve them from lasting harm. And we pray for the multitude who now take sides and cast stones, that they may not add fuel to the fire but may learn to pray and to mourn over sin rather than to feed upon it.

May the Lord bring this family out of public contention into private, pastoral care, under faithful shepherds who will speak the truth in love, call sin what it is, and point all to the cross where there is forgiveness for great sin. And may that forgiveness, once received, be seen in a forgiving spirit one toward another, to the glory of God and the good of this home.

We will continue to remember this household before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to do what is holy and merciful and healing according to His perfect will.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in praying for this family, and we share your sorrow over what you have described. It is right to be grieved when a marriage is strained, when sin is alleged, when hurt leads to further hurt, and when a child stands in the middle of it all while many others watch and take sides.

Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable and is meant to preserve holiness. It is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, given by God for faithfulness and for the procreation and nurture of children, and sexual union belongs only within it. Adultery is not a necessity laid upon our nature. Natural desire was given with a view to marriage, not with a view to adultery and corruption. To turn from one's own wife or husband to another is not compelled, it is a deliberate choice of the will, and it is sin. Even when it is hidden from people, it is not hidden from God, for the one who commits adultery insults God himself more than any person, and God will avenge himself. If what is being said about this husband is true, then it must be brought into the light truthfully, not excused, and there must be honest confession and repentance before God, who alone saves through Jesus Christ, and before those who have been wronged.

Your concern about the manner of response is also right. Deep hurt is understandable, and betrayal wounds greatly, yet the hurt does not make vindictiveness right. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, which includes chaste and orderly living in marriage. A Christian response does not seek to repay evil or to expose and shame another before a crowd online. The fans choosing sides and the public posting only increase contention and do lasting harm, especially to children. Youth is tender and requires careful protection and godly nurture, and to make a child a spectator to the public tearing down of his parents lays a heavy burden on him. What is needed is not more public words, but quiet, faithful steps: truth telling, turning from sin, seeking godly counsel and the help of mature pastors in the church, and handling matters privately and with self control rather than in the sight of thousands.

We will pray in this way.

Father, have mercy on this husband and wife, on their child, and on both families. If adultery has been committed, bring conviction of sin and grant repentance that leads to life through Jesus Christ alone. Forgive and cleanse according to your loving kindness. If accusations are false or confused, bring truth to light. Heal the deep hurt of the wife and guard her from bitterness and from using her words to wound. Teach both to love holiness and to follow peace. Give them wise and faithful counselors who will speak your word with truth and grace, and give them courage to step away from public display and to seek reconciliation where it is possible in a way that honors you. Protect the child from harm and from being used in conflict, and cover him with your care. Quiet the clamor of those watching, and keep your people from contentious partisanship. Use even this painful situation to show that you have not made us so that we must sin, but that you provide a way of faithfulness, and that you are ready to restore those who turn to you. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
