We join with you in lifting this family before the Lord, for our hearts are grieved with you over this very sad and public situation. We agree that it is deeply disappointing when those who profess Christ become the center of contention and division, and we pray that God would be glorified even in this painful exposure.
We pray for this young husband and wife and their child, and for both of their extended families who have been drawn into the public eye. We ask the Lord to protect that little child from confusion and hurt, and to surround this family with godly counsel rather than public opinion. We pray that if there has been unfaithfulness, there would be deep conviction, repentance and turning from sin, for the Word of God is clear that marriage is sacred and lifelong between a man and a woman. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Mark 10:9 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. You shall not commit adultery Exodus 20:14 is not a suggestion but a holy command, and if the husband has cheated, we rebuke that sin and pray he would confess it before God and before his wife in truth and humility, seeking forgiveness and restoration.
We also pray concerning what you have observed of wrongdoing on the part of the wife and possibly her family. We do not know all the details, but the Lord does, and we know that retaliation, slander, vengeance and stirring up strife are also sin before God. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up Ephesians 4:29 and Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:31-32. Vengeance belongs to the Lord Romans 12:19, not to us, and we pray that none involved would seek to harm or expose one another for vindication or for public favor, but would seek reconciliation in private as the Lord commands.
We also grieve over the fans choosing sides and attacking those involved. This is not the way of Christ. We are called to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20 and to not judge, so that we will not be judged Matthew 7:1. A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret Proverbs 11:13. We pray that those watching would cease from gossip, slander and condemnation, and instead pray with mercy and humility, remembering that we all stand in need of grace.
We gently encourage all who profess Christ in this situation to step away from the public eye and to handle these matters biblically, privately, with pastoral counsel and accountability, seeking either true repentance and healing toward restoration of the marriage, which God desires, or if sin remains unrepented, following the order of Matthew 18 with the church rather than the court of public opinion. Love covers a multitude of sins 1 Peter 4:8, and forgiveness and truth must walk together.
We thank you for bringing this request in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5 and there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We cling to Christ as our only hope for forgiveness and reconciliation in every marriage and family.
We pray together, Father in heaven, we lift this young couple, their child, and both families to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, You see what is done in secret and what is true and what is false in every accusation. Bring all hidden things into Your light, convict of sin where there is sin, and grant godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Heal the wounds of betrayal and anger, guard the heart of this child, and silence the voices of strife and judgment from the crowd. Teach this husband and wife to honor their covenant, to speak the truth in love, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to seek Your will above public approval. Give them wise, biblically grounded counselors who will not take sides but will point them to Your Word. Let Your peace rule where there is now contention, and let Your name be honored by how this is resolved, whether through miraculous restoration or through humble obedience to Your ways. We ask for mercy, healing and protection over this family, and that all who are watching would learn to pray rather than attack. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, amen.
