Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for a family who are in the public eye (a young couple with a child who have also included both their families in the public eye with them) and now publicly seeming to break up as the husband is being accused of cheating. The whole situation is sad, most involved are professing Christians and there also honestly (from my point of view) seems to be some bad things being done on the part of the wife and possibly her family as well. If what is being said about the husband is true, then it needs to be addressed but the wife is addressing it in the wrong way and not in a manner befitting of a Christian which is stunning considering how her and her family and other loved ones present themselves as being very religious. It is understandable that she is deeply hurt but too much is being posted and done online - there is so much vindictiveness and craziness going on - and there are children involved who could be badly affected by all this. The fans of this couple are now attacking those involved and choosing sides and it's become a very contentious situation - very disappointing coming out of a situation where those involved are Christians. Lots of bad things occurring surrounding this situation. Please pray. Thank you.

We join you in lifting this family before the Lord, for our hearts are grieved with you over what you have described. Marriage is a sacred covenant before God between one man and one woman for life, and what God has joined together, let no man separate, Mark 10:9. When that covenant is threatened, it is not merely a private disappointment but a spiritual crisis that must be handled in the fear of the Lord.

We must speak plainly about what you have shared. If the husband has indeed committed adultery, that is a grave sin against God and against his wife and child. The Word says marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed is to be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, Hebrews 13:4, and you shall not commit adultery, Exodus 20:14. There is no excuse for unfaithfulness, and if true, it requires honest confession, deep repentance before God, and humble seeking of forgiveness from his wife. At the same time, the response you describe from the wife and possibly her family is also not befitting a follower of Christ. Even when deeply hurt, we are not called to vindictiveness, public shaming, or airing grievances online. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, Romans 12:19, and we are told do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good, Romans 12:21. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up, Ephesians 4:29, and let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Ephesians 4:31-32.

The Lord gives us a clear path for addressing sin within the body. If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone, Matthew 18:15. Not before thousands of followers online, not through posts and insinuations, but privately, humbly, and with the goal of restoration. When professing Christians handle conflict in a worldly, theatrical way, it brings reproach upon the name of Christ and causes many to stumble. Those who keep their mouth and their tongue keep their soul from troubles, Proverbs 21:23, and the fans who are now choosing sides and attacking are participating in gossip and slander, which the Lord hates. Love covers a multitude of sins, 1 Peter 4:8, and we are called to be slow to anger and quick to listen, James 1:19.

Our greatest concern with you is for the children caught in the middle of this. They are innocent and vulnerable, and the Word says to guard their hearts and not to cause little ones to stumble. This public contention can wound them for years, and we must pray that the adults will put the protection of those children above their desire to be vindicated online.

We pray together for them now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before Your throne of grace and we lift this young husband and wife, their child, and both of their extended families to You. Lord, You see what is done in secret and what is posted in public. If adultery has been committed, we pray You would bring deep conviction and godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and that You would give this husband no peace until he confesses and turns from his sin, 1 John 1:9. If accusations are false or exaggerated, bring truth into the light. For the wife, we pray You would comfort her broken heart, bind up her wounds, Psalm 147:3, and restrain her tongue and her hands from retaliation. Teach her to cast all her anxiety on You because You care for her, 1 Peter 5:7, and to seek wise, godly, private counsel from pastors and mature believers rather than the court of public opinion. We pray for both families to stop taking sides and to become peacemakers who point this couple toward reconciliation, forgiveness, and the preservation of their marriage if at all possible, for You hate divorce, Malachi 2:16. Put a guard over their social media and their lips, remove them from the public eye for a season of healing, and protect that precious child from trauma and confusion. Silence the gossip of fans and onlookers and convict all who are spreading strife. Lord, we know it is only through Jesus that we have access to You, for there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5, and there is salvation in no one else, Acts 4:12. We pray that each person involved who professes Your name would examine whether they truly know Jesus and would walk in a manner worthy of Him. Let Your will be done in this marriage, bring repentance where there is sin, bring forgiveness where there is hurt, and bring glory to Your name through restoration. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray quietly and not to be drawn into the public debate or choosing sides yourself. Pray that God would surround this couple with biblically faithful counselors who will tell them the truth in love and call them to honor their vows, to pursue purity, and to seek reconciliation over revenge.

We hear how heavy this has been to carry as you watch it unfold. It is painful when a young family, and especially a child, is caught in the middle of public accusations and online division, and even more so when you know those involved profess faith in Christ.

What you described about the back and forth online and fans taking sides is part of what makes these situations so damaging. When hurt is processed very publicly, it can harden positions and make space for healing much harder to find, and children often feel the weight of it most deeply even when they are not directly addressed.

We are joining you in praying for quieter, wiser help to reach this couple and their extended families, and for protection and stability for their child in the middle of all the attention. Thank you for wanting to intercede rather than just observe.

One simple way to steward your concern is to step back from following the commentary and updates for a time, and instead bring the specific needs you named before the Lord each day, for truth to be handled with integrity, for hurt to be met with counsel that is private and steady, and for the child to be shielded from further harm.

Father, we lift this family to You. You see what is true and what is not, and You know the hurt on every side. We ask for wisdom for those closest to them, for restraint where words have been harmful, and for safety and peace for the child. Draw each one toward what is honest and healing in Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your burden and we join you in carrying it to the throne of grace, for this is indeed a sorrowful and heavy matter.

Where sin has entered a home, and most of all a home that bears the name of Christ before the world, there is deep wounding and great danger. If the accusation against the husband be true, it is not a light thing, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman ordained by God, and all that belongs to it is holy and to be kept within that covenant alone. Such unfaithfulness needs to be addressed with truth, with godly sorrow and with true repentance before God, not hidden nor excused. And if there has been vindictiveness, bitter posting and public retaliation on the other side, that also is not befitting a follower of Christ, though we understand the sharpness of such hurt. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and His people are called to a better way.

There is forgiveness with God, and this is our hope for every soul concerned. Scripture says, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake. It is a divine forgiveness, a surprising forgiveness, a complete and eternal forgiveness, and it is to be found only with God through Jesus Christ His Son who died the just for the unjust to bring us to God. However great the sin, there is forgiveness for the chief of sinners who turns with a penitent heart and trusts in Christ alone for salvation. He not only forgives at the first, but continues daily to forgive those who come to Him, and His forgiveness is so complete that the record of debt is nailed to the cross.

Yet that same Word teaches us, forgiving one another even as Christ forgave you. It is a joint work of grace among Christians to forgive as we have been forgiven. This does not make sin light, nor does it remove the need for honest confession and for turning from sin, but it forbids the spirit of revenge and public shaming. The way of Christ is not to publish grievances before the multitude, but to seek truth in humility, with wise and godly counsel, with the help of faithful pastors and elders, and with a desire for restoration and holiness rather than for vindication before fans or followers.

We pray then for this family.

We pray that if sin has been committed, the Holy Spirit will bring deep conviction and a true turning to Christ, and that there will be honest confession to God and to those sinned against. We pray that the wounded heart will be kept from bitterness and from the desire to repay evil for evil, and will be given grace to act with the meekness and purity which becomes a Christian, seeking counsel privately rather than contending publicly. We pray for the little child and for all the children drawn into this public sorrow, that the Lord will guard their hearts and minds and keep them from lasting harm. We pray for both families, that they will not stir strife but will speak with wisdom and restraint. We pray for the many observers who now choose sides and hurl accusations, that such contention would cease and that the name of Christ would not be dishonored by those who profess Him. And we pray above all that each one involved would look to Jesus Christ alone for salvation and for power to walk in holiness, remembering that there is forgiveness with Him that He may be feared and loved.

May the Lord in mercy bring truth to light, bring repentance where repentance is needed, bring healing where healing is possible according to His perfect will, and bring all to that forgiveness which is full and free in Christ.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord heal this broken family, guard the children, stop the public attacks, and lead all involved to repentance and peace.

- *"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."* — Matthew 5:9
- *"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up."* — Ephesians 4:29
