Your prayer for your household has been heard and we join with you in bringing it before the throne of grace with thanksgiving. It is a good and holy thing to desire that a family should be bound together by the love of Christ, for where His love abounds there is a perfume that fills the whole house.
You have prayed as the apostle teaches, that you may forgive even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you. Remember what a divine forgiveness that is. There is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared, and it is surprising, complete and eternal. If you have been forgiven so freely, so fully, through the blood of Jesus the Just for the unjust, how shall you not also give a discharge to one another, not in your own name but in Christ's name and for His sake, because you love Him. This is true charity, that holy love which is the choicest of the graces of God. We love because He first loved us, and that love, having been shed abroad in our hearts, returns to Him and flows out to those nearest to us.
May the Lord therefore clothe your family with humility and patience and kindness, as those who are beloved of God. Bear with one another in love, forbearing and forgiving, and above all putting on charity which is the bond of perfectness. Let rapturous love and calm patience blend together in your home, and let your renewed hearts show forth the love you have received, that you may reflect His love in all you do.
We pray that the Lord will strengthen your faith and deepen your relationship with Himself, that you may know more of that love which passes knowledge, and dwell upon it, and live in it, for it is the joy of your hearts. May He keep you in His fear and in His love, rejoicing over you with singing as He works for your salvation, and may your home be a place where Christ is honored and His peace rules.
Father, we ask Thee to establish this family in unity and love, to teach each heart to walk humbly and kindly, to forgive as they have been forgiven, and to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord. Keep them near to Thyself and let Thy love abide upon them continually, in Jesus name Amen.
