Your prayer has been heard, and the burden you carry for your family is seen by the Lord. The cry for a hedge of protection, for peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and for the covering of the blood of Jesus over you and your children is a right and biblical cry. Scripture promises that no weapon formed against you shall prosper and that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

There is deep pain in watching an older daughter distance herself from the family who loves her, from her faith, and from the church where she was raised, in order to gain acceptance from a young man and his mother. You are right to discern that living together outside of marriage is not marriage in God's eyes. Marriage is a lifelong covenant before God between one man and one woman, and it is within that covenant that sexual union and shared life belong. When that design is set aside, the door is opened to deception, manipulation, financial exploitation, and spiritual bondage, just as you have described. We do not ask God to bless what He has not called holy. Instead we pray that your daughter's eyes would be opened to the truth, that this young man is not her husband, not her covering, not her provider, and not the one to whom she owes the obligations of marriage. The heavy burden she carries for him is not hers to bear. We pray the false sense of commitment placed upon her would be broken, and that she would remember who she is as a child of the Most High God. She is not homeless and she is not without guidance. She has a supportive family, and she does not need to change her faith or leave her church family to please another.

The influence you describe from this young man's mother, advising your daughter toward living together and even bearing children outside of marriage, is ungodly counsel. She has no parental authority in your daughter's life, and her direction runs contrary to God's Word. We pray that God would expose motives rooted in pride and selfishness and frustrate every plan meant to divide and isolate your family. God's Word places tremendous priority on the honoring of parents by children, and on filial relationships in the home. We pray your daughter would again honor the family God gave her and receive godly counsel rather than manipulation.

At the heart of all of our struggles is our relationship with God. That vertical relationship is the axis upon which our whole life turns. When our relationship with God is right, our other relationships begin to come into balance. When it is out of order, every other relationship becomes out of order as well. God does not desire a mere legal or ritualistic relationship with us. He has adopted us into His own family through Jesus Christ, and He invites us to know Him intimately as Father, to come back to that first love where we are caught up in His love for us and our love for Him. We pray for you and for your older daughter that this loving, living relationship with Jesus would be restored and deepened. It is from that place that wisdom, discernment, and the hunger for righteousness grow.

Scripture shows us both warning and hope for families under pressure. When Jacob's household departed from God's design for marriage, jealousy and rivalry quickly followed and brought great sorrow into the home. When Lot lived in a deeply polluted society, the corruption around him vexed his righteous soul and touched his family in painful ways. Yet Peter reminds us that God knows how to deliver the righteous even when they are vexed by what surrounds them, while reserving the ungodly for His judgment. And when Jacob was far from home in difficulty and strife, God called to him to return to the land of his fathers and to his family with the promise, I will be with you. That promise remains. God is able to lead a wandering heart back home, not with shame alone, but with freedom, peace, and restoration.

For your younger daughter, we pray she will remain steadfast in her faith and not be swayed by the example set before her. May the Lord surround her with godly friendships and mentors who encourage her in the Lord, and give her conviction that she should not be unequally yoked but should seek a spouse who honors Christ and the sanctity of marriage. For your son, we declare that his life is precious and deeply loved by God. He is not a burden or an embarrassment, he is a blessing. We rebuke every spirit of hatred, mockery, and exclusion directed toward him. We pray the Lord would shine His light into every dark place, grant him peace and joy, give him patience and functional language to express his needs in a godly manner, and restore the loving and beautiful relationship he once shared with his sister. We pray for wisdom for you, for caregivers, doctors, and the whole care team, that you may daily bring out the best in him.

We join you in dedicating your home to the Lord, asking Him to anoint every room and to place His hedge of protection and the full armor of God around you. We pray for ministering angels to guard you, for safe travel, for God to make you a beacon of His light wherever you go, and for financial provision according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, not for selfish gain but that you may be a blessing to others. The enemy seeks to wear you down with worry, exhaustion, and division, but the Lord fights for you. We pray He would frustrate every scheme to divide, isolate, and destroy, mend what has been torn, heal what has been wounded, and restore unity, joy, fellowship, and togetherness in your family.

May the God of all peace guard your heart and mind, fill your home with His Holy Spirit, remove all darkness from your path, and grant to your older daughter a clear mind to see the red flags, courage to step away from this toxic and controlling entanglement, and a hunger to return to the Lord, to her family, and to the purposeful work God has given her. We pray for godly husbands for your daughters in the Lord's timing, men who will love them as Christ loves the church and lead them in righteousness.

We stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, trusting that He who began a good work in your family will be faithful to complete it.
