Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer before the throne of grace is heard, and your burden for your children is understood. The hurt, isolation, disrespect and division you describe are heavy, and it is right to bring them to the Lord who sees what is happening in your home and who fights for His people.
God has always shown His heart for the family. From the beginning He narrowed His redemptive purpose to one family through whom all families of the earth would be blessed, and that family line led to Jesus Christ. He cares deeply about the unity, purity and protection of the home. When He wanted to bless and restore Jacob, He called him to return to the land of his fathers and to his family, and promised to be with him there. He revealed Himself as the God who had met Jacob at Bethel, the place where Jacob first knew His presence and promise. In the same way, the Lord's desire for your older daughter is not to remain in a place of confusion and harm, but to be brought back to safety, stability and wisdom, to a place where she can remember her value, be restored in health and faith, and hear His voice again. To return to the covering of family and to the Lord is not a step backward, but a step toward what is best for her. When a person runs from the call of God, they are really running from their own good, because His plan is always the kindest and most life giving path.
Scripture is clear that living together outside of marriage is not marriage. It is a thing which ought not to be done, and it opens the door to spiritual bondage, deception, financial hardship, exhaustion and deep hurt, just as you have seen. The Word calls us to flee sexual immorality and to honor the body and the covenant of marriage, and it warns not to be unequally yoked with those who do not walk in the ways of the Lord. A relationship marked by control, degradation, selfishness, laziness and dishonesty, and by a mother who encourages a daughter to carry a burden that is not hers to carry, does not reflect the love with which Christ loves His people. It is right to pray that your daughter's eyes would be opened to these red flags, that stubbornness would be replaced with a hunger for righteousness, and that she would see that she belongs to the Lord and not to any man who would isolate her from those who love her. Pray that every plan to divide and isolate would be frustrated, and that her heart would be turned back to the Lord and to her family, as God promises to turn the hearts of children to their parents.
The Lord is also your protector. As He placed blankets of protection around the earth to shield it, so He surrounds His children. He is merciful even when a household is not perfect, and He is able to lead His people out of harm. He is the true Kinsman Redeemer who offers rest and safety, as Boaz did for Ruth when he welcomed her to stay under his care and not to glean in another field. Jesus has already overcome every power of darkness through the cross, and greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. You can continue to plead the blood of Jesus over your home, asking Him to seal every opening that has allowed division, gossip, mocking, jealousy and strife to enter, and to let His peace which passes understanding guard your hearts and minds.
Continue to lift up your younger daughter, that she would remain steadfast and not be swayed by an ungodly example. Ask the Lord to protect the sweet bond she has with her siblings, to surround her with godly friendships and mentors, and to help her see that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, to be entered with someone who honors God. And bring your son before the Lord with confidence. He is not a burden but a blessing, made in God's image and deeply loved. Ask the Father to saturate him with peace, to block every word curse, mockery and demeaning look, to remove any influence that would make him feel small or excluded, and to strengthen his fellowship with you, his sisters, caregivers and extended family.
Ask God to mend what has been torn and to restore love, respect, gratitude and fellowship in your home, that it would again be a sanctuary of His presence. Trust Him also for provision, for He promises to supply what His people need, not for selfish gain but so you can be a blessing to others. And pray for the future, that in His time He would bring godly spouses for your daughters, men who will love as Christ loves the church and lead in righteousness.
Keep praying with perseverance, with truth in love, and with wise and loving boundaries. Do not defend or give a false image of what is harmful, but speak the truth gently and keep the door open for repentance and return. The Lord fights for you. Rest in His mercy, keep your eyes on Jesus, and trust Him to do what only He can do to bring freedom, healing and complete restoration to your family.
