We hear the heaviness of your heart in bringing this young woman before us and we thank you for your honesty in saying you do not pray much these days. God honors honesty and He draws near when we come to Him humbly, and we want to stand with you in prayer together in Jesus name for this precious young woman who is suffering so deeply.
We are grieved to hear of the abuse she has endured from her father and mother and siblings, being thrown out so young and being treated as a slave in her own home, being struck and having her things broken and being lied about when she cried out for help. This is evil and God sees it clearly even when the police did not show up and even when those who should protect her have failed her. We rebuke this abuse in the name of Jesus, for it is sin and it violates God's command for parents to love and nurture their children. You fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord Ephesians 6:4. Fathers, don't provoke your children, so that they won't be discouraged Colossians 3:21. To cause a child to suffer this way is a grave sin, and Jesus warned that whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea Matthew 18:6.
We also must speak plainly about the mother going to church every Sunday while abusing her daughter. This is hypocrisy and not true faith. Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world James 1:27. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven Matthew 7:21. God is not mocked by outward religion while the heart does violence at home. He judges the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more Psalm 10:17-18.
We know you mentioned suicide hotlines only giving quotes and the police not helping, and we understand why she feels hopeless and why you feel helpless. But we want you both to know that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up Psalm 27:10. She is not forgotten and she is not without value. She is fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:14, and God has thoughts of peace toward her and a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11. Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.
You asked if God will show up if we ask Him, and we tell you with confidence that He does hear and He does answer, but we must come to Him through Jesus Christ. You did not mention the name of Jesus in your request, and we want to lovingly share that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We encourage you to return to prayer yourself, not because you have perfect words, but because through Jesus your prayers are heard. And we encourage you to gently point this young woman to Jesus as well, for He alone can heal her broken heart and be her true Father and Protector when her earthly family has failed her.
We will pray now together for her and for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this young woman to You, though we do not know her name You know her fully. You have seen every tear, every bruise, every harsh word, every night she has felt alone and unloved. Lord, we ask You to surround her with Your presence and let her know she is not abandoned. Be her refuge and her defender. Break the cycle of abuse in that home and convict the hearts of her mother and father and siblings of their sin. Bring godly people across her path who will see her, believe her, and provide safe shelter and wise help. Protect her from despair and from any thought of ending her life, and show her that her life is precious to You and has purpose. Heal her body and her spirit, and lead her to Jesus for salvation and hope. We also lift up the one who wrote to us, who cares enough to intercede for her. Draw him back to prayer, strengthen his faith, give him wisdom to know how to encourage her safely from a distance, to keep listening, to encourage her to seek a trusted pastor or safe local help or shelter where she is, to document what is happening, and to keep reaching out for real help even when others have failed. Let him know that his compassion reflects Your heart. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to continue to be a steady and kind voice to her, to keep checking on her, to remind her that God loves her and that help is still possible even when authorities have disappointed her. Encourage her gently that if she is in immediate danger to again seek help from a safe adult, a trustworthy church, or a local shelter or aid organization for abused young women in her country, and to keep a record of what has happened. Above all keep pointing her to the Lord who will never forsake her, and keep praying for her yourself, for the prayer of a righteous person is powerful. We are standing with you in this and we will continue to bring her before the Lord.
