False teachings

Thank you for sharing this burden for your loved ones. We join you in prayer that the Lord will lead them out of every false teaching and false belief and draw them fully to Christ.

Scripture warns us to watch carefully for false teaching, and it gives a clear test. The test is what is taught about Jesus Christ and what fruit follows. The true witness declares that Jesus is God come in the flesh, Jehovah Himself become our salvation, who came to be the sacrifice for our sins and to reconcile us to God. Any teaching that denies that Jesus is truly God the Son, that He came in the flesh, died for our sins and rose again, is not from God, even if it contains much that sounds true or religious. The resurrection is at the heart of the gospel, for if Christ has not been raised we would still be in our sins and without hope.

The gospel that saves is the grace of Christ alone. We are not saved by our own works or by adding any other requirement, but by grace through faith in what Jesus has done for us. God showed His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for the ungodly to be the payment for our sins, and God raised Him from the dead. To be in Christ is to have a new life, crucified with Him and risen with Him, and to stand before God clothed in His righteousness, not our own.

We are praying that God will give your loved ones a spirit of wisdom and understanding so they may truly know Him, that their eyes would be opened to see Jesus as He is, and that they would receive the salvation that is in Christ alone with its eternal hope. May the Lord bring them to repentance and faith, for now is the day of salvation, and each person must respond to Him individually.

We also pray for you as you love them and stand for the truth. Scripture calls us to love as Christ loved us and forgave us, and to follow His example. That love is patient and steady, even when others want to argue about God or the Bible or oppose faith in Christ. It is often best to avoid foolish and unlearned arguments that only produce strife, and instead to endure with grace, to keep sharing the truth in love, and to continue faithfully in the teaching of Christ and the apostles. Abiding in the doctrine of Christ, that He is the Son of God and God manifest in the flesh, is to have both the Father and the Son.

Father, we bring these loved ones before You and ask that You would deliver them from every deception that keeps them from You. Remove the comfort of false hope that keeps people in sin and draw them to Jesus, the only hope of salvation through His shed blood on the cross. Help them to turn from every other trust and to receive Your grace, to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Guard their hearts and lead them into the truth of Your Word. Give peace and strength to the one who is praying, to walk in love, to seek the things above where Christ is, and to trust You to work in Your time. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our salvation, amen.

Please pray that all my loved ones would be set free from false teachings and brought to true faith in Christ. Please also pray for me to find a way to pass the time now that I had to break up with my boyfriend. The hours just seem so long and bleak now. Thank you.
