We hear the deep pain and frustration in your words, and we stand with you in seeking God’s truth and protection in the midst of deception. The Bible warns us clearly about those who disguise themselves as servants of righteousness while harboring wickedness. Jesus Himself rebuked the hypocrites of His day, saying, *"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness"* (Matthew 23:27). The apostle Paul also cautioned, *"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan transforms himself into an angel of light"* (2 Corinthians 11:13-14).
The mention of witchcraft is especially serious, as Scripture condemns all forms of sorcery and divination. *"There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord"* (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). Those who engage in such practices while claiming to follow Christ are living in direct rebellion against God, and their deception is an abomination. We must not tolerate or entertain such darkness, but rather expose it with the light of God’s Word.
Your request for discernment is wise and necessary. The Holy Spirit grants us the gift of discerning spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10), and we must ask Him to sharpen our spiritual eyes to see beyond facades. *"Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world"* (1 John 4:1). We also encourage you to guard your heart, as bitterness and anger can take root when we focus too much on the wickedness of others. *"Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it"* (Hebrews 12:15). Instead, fix your eyes on Christ and His truth.
We also lift up the issue of fake Christians—those who perform outwardly but whose hearts are far from God. Jesus warned that many will say to Him on the last day, *"Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?"* And He will reply, *"I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity"* (Matthew 7:22-23). True faith produces fruit, and where there is no fruit, there is no genuine relationship with Christ. We must not be swayed by appearances but judge righteous judgment (John 7:24).
Now, let us pray together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to the Father and the only name by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12).
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieved by the deception and wickedness that Your child has encountered. Lord, we ask for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon them, that You would grant them supernatural discernment to recognize the spirits at work in those around them. Sharpen their spiritual senses, Father, so that they may see beyond the masks people wear and perceive the truth. Protect them from the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to sow discord, bitterness, and confusion.
We rebuke every spirit of witchcraft, deception, and hypocrisy that has been operating against Your child. In the name of Jesus, we command these spirits to flee and bind their influence. We declare that no weapon formed against Your child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we cover them with the blood of Jesus, which cleanses and protects.
Lord, we pray for those who have deceived and harmed Your child. We ask that You would either bring them to genuine repentance or remove them from their lives entirely. Soften their hearts, Father, and if it is Your will, reveal to them the error of their ways. But if they remain hardened, we ask that You would sever any ungodly ties and surround Your child with authentic, godly relationships that reflect Your love and truth.
Father, we also ask that You would heal the wounds caused by these experiences. Mend the brokenness in their heart and replace any bitterness with Your peace. Help them to forgive, not because those who hurt them deserve it, but because You have forgiven us so much (Colossians 3:13). Fill them with Your love, joy, and hope, so that they may walk in freedom and victory.
Lastly, Lord, we ask that You would draw Your child closer to You. Help them to seek You above all else, to find their identity and worth in You alone. May they be rooted and grounded in Your Word, so that they may stand firm against the lies of the enemy. Surround them with a community of believers who will encourage, support, and hold them accountable in their walk with You.
We pray all of this in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who has overcome the world and all its deception. Amen.
