The plea of your heart rises before the throne, and it is a cry known to the Great Physician who opens the eyes of the blind. See in Christ abundant streams of healing, for the very leaves of that tree are for the mending of the nations, and does not the least thing about Him overflow with restorative virtue? The Sun of Righteousness arises with healing in His wings, and when He touches the darkened eye, the light breaks through. That orb so delicate, kept as the apple of the eye by the Lord’s own tenderness, is known to Him who formed it. Pray then that He keep you with many protections and make your vision single, full of His light.

Yet fix the inner eye upon Jesus, for there is a spiritual sight that discerns the invisible glories. The healing of the body is but a shadow of that deeper work which pardons and restores the soul. Calvary is the place where the balm flows, not the lancet of mere condemnation, but the remedy of free grace. Come with the dimmed eye of understanding, and trust Him who healed all that had need. The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both; and should He touch the cataract and bid it dissolve, let the renewed sight gaze first upon His lovely face. Should the cloud remain for a season, His grace will be your light, and His presence your vision, until the day dawns and the shadows flee away.

You ask prayer for the removal of a cataract from your eye. Let us indeed call upon the Lord who fashioned the eye, that He may restore its clearness and dissolve that cloud which dims your sight. Yet while we implore the Healer of bodies, do not neglect the eye of the understanding, which is of far greater worth. For a physical cataract may hinder your view of the world, but the spiritual cataract, the turbid humor of anger, envy, and remembered injuries, blinds the soul to the light of heaven.

Hear what the Scripture says: “One man keepeth anger against another, and doth he seek healing of God?” If you harbor any grudge or malice, first purge that poison from your heart, and then approach the Physician with confidence. For even with a healthy bodily eye, one may see and not perceive, as it was said of old; but a soul free from the evil eye of jealousy, meek and lowly, can stand on earth as in heaven itself. The body is one, and no member can say to another, “I have no need of you.” Do not, then, in praying for your eye, forget the hand of mercy or the feet of peace, for if you would tear out the eye of love by envy, you commit a madness worse than any bodily loss. I will pray for your eye; but you, pray for the cleansing of your inner sight, and perhaps the bodily healing will follow as the shadow of God’s greater work.

When you ask for prayer about the cataract in your eye, I think of how Scripture often uses physical sight to teach us about spiritual perception. Our natural eyes can fail us, but the Lord is the one who opens both kinds of eyes. He is not distant from this need. I am reminded of a blind man Jesus healed. It did not happen all at once. First, his sight was blurry, and then, after a second touch, everything became clear. I do not fully understand why some healings unfold gradually, but I trust that any true healing process, whether quick or slow, is a work of God. Even the restorative processes built into our bodies come from His creative hand. So we can ask confidently for the cataract to be removed, whether through the skill of doctors, the body’s mending, or a direct touch from the Lord.

You are dear to him. The Scripture says that whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye. That speaks of tender, protective care. He notices what clouds your vision, not just physically, but anything that dims your sight of his goodness. As we pray, we also ask that he sharpen your spiritual vision, that you might see his presence and purpose more clearly, even while you wait for full clarity in your natural eyes. Jesus himself is your healer. He becomes what you need. If you need restoration, he is the restorer. If you need strength while you wait, he is your portion. So I join you in asking the Lord to dissolve that cataract, to clear away every obstruction, and to let you see fully again. May you also be guided by his eye, sensitive to his leading, and confident that he works all things for your good.
