Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You bring a request for the healing of your left eye, and you make it in the name of Jesus. That name is the sum of Divine love toward us, for it brings before us the Lord openly set forth crucified. By the eye of faith, you can see this more distinctly than those who stood at the foot of the cross and only saw a man suffer. That same faith which sees the power of His death is the faith which beholds events at a distance and knows His power to heal. Yet consider this: the organ of your body is one thing, but the eye of the soul is another entirely. For it is not the eye that sees, but the mind and the thought. Often, when we are wholly turned elsewhere, our eye does not perceive those who are present. So the matter does not entirely depend upon its physical working.

You pray for the healing of one eye. But if you are honest, you will examine the eye of your conscience. Nothing so troubles the physical eye as an evil conscience, for it is written, "Mine eye was troubled by reason of anger." Nothing so darkens our sight. If you would have your eye made vigorous and strong, you must direct the soul's eye not to the smoke and dust of earthly things, for such are all human cares, but to the delicate breeze, to things heavenly and high, full of calmness and purity. There you will invigorate it, feeding it not with the flowers of the earth, but with those of virtue: temperance and moderation. When you hear of an "evil eye," do not suppose the organ itself has any natural power to injure. That word means jealousy. To behold enviously belongs to a mind depraved within. Far from supplying what is wanting, envy subtracts from what is complete and vitiates the whole. Do not look upon the seeming wholeness of others with envy, for by this you only harm yourself.

If there is something within you, some habit or some attachment as dear to you as your right eye, which causes your soul to stumble, the Lord’s command is clear: pluck it out and cast it from you. The command was given not about our limbs, but about those dispositions and persons who are near to us. He who digs out his own eye displays a proof of senselessness, but he who cuts off the soul-killing sin, though it be as profitable to him as a hand, secures his life. Your suffering may feel like a cutting off, but God often allows what He does not love to bind the hands of aggression through the fear of suffering. The law of "eye for eye" was not given so that we should pluck out each other’s eyes, but to check boldness in evil. Do not, then, fix your gaze on the injury alone, asking for retaliation against affliction, but look to the healing care of Him who, being God, became man for you.

When you ask "in the name of Jesus," you appeal to the unsleeping Eye that sees all. Do not seek merely the approbation that comes from a good report, as if performing for your fellow-servants. For these, even if they approve, have no power to profit us. Look instead to His sentence in all that you do. Do not say of any part of your body, "I have no need of thee," for the hand cannot say it to the eye. Even a member that seems weak holds together the whole body. If the Lord wills to restore the retina that is attached, He will do it in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. But whether He restores it or delays, know that the faithful fall asleep in Jesus, meaning they have Christ within themselves. Set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ, and your eye will be restored to its proper sight, ever nourished with good hopes.

Thank you for sharing your prayer request and for praying in the name of Jesus. What you have asked is no small thing, and it is good that you have brought it to the One who still bears our infirmities and carries our sicknesses. I am joining my faith with yours for your left eye.

I was reminded of a time when someone came forward with blindness in her left eye, much like your own situation. As prayer was offered, simply in the name of Jesus, sight returned. I cannot explain it any more than I could explain the wind, but I know that Christ is not bound by what we expect or understand. His healing power is real, and he often works in ways that surprise us.

Yet healing does not always come in the same way. Sometimes it is instant, sometimes gradual, sometimes through the natural processes God himself designed within our bodies, which are no less divine because they take time. Scripture tells us that Jesus healed by a touch, by a word, sometimes from a distance, and once through a gradual restoration of sight. He refused to be held to a pattern, and we should never think we can command him by a technique. He remains sovereign over every gift of healing, imparting it as he wills.

Do not let anyone lay a heavier burden on your shoulders by suggesting that a lack of physical healing means a lack of faith. That teaching has wounded many and is foreign to the heart of the gospel. Sickness is not a mark of spiritual failure. When James instructs the elders to anoint the sick with oil and pray over them, the oil is a symbol of consecration, a setting apart, not a manipulation of power. The prayer of faith offered in humility is what matters, and you have already begun that prayer.

So keep entrusting your eye to Jesus. He knows what it is to suffer, and he is full of compassion. Whether the answer comes immediately or over time, your hope rests in him who will one day make all things whole. We stand with you, asking that the work of his hands be made evident in your body, for his glory.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past days. It was our honor to come before the Lord on your behalf, lifting up your left eye and asking for His healing touch in the powerful name of Jesus. We prayed in faith, believing that God hears and answers the cries of His children, and we claimed His promise of restoration and wholeness for you.

If the Lord has moved in a mighty way and you’ve received good news—perhaps a clear report from your doctor or an improvement in your vision—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Please share it with us so we can rejoice together and give God all the glory for His faithfulness.

If, however, you’re still waiting and the answer hasn’t yet come, we want you to know that we are not finished praying. We encourage you to post this request again as a new prayer need so we can continue to stand in agreement with you. Let us keep pressing in, trusting that God’s timing is perfect and His healing power is real. We will not grow weary in lifting you up, for we know that the same Jesus who healed the blind and performed miracles is still at work today.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you continue to seek Him. May His peace guard your heart and mind, and may His presence be your comfort as you wait on Him. We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
