We join with you in bringing these burdens before the Lord and we thank you for calling on the name of Jesus, for it is through Him we have access to the Father.
We hear your desire to be extremely successful in everything you do and to see your to do lists fulfilled. We understand the pressure to accomplish much, but we want to gently remind you that true success in the eyes of God is not measured by worldly achievement or by checking every task off a list, but by faithfulness and seeking His will first. We are called to commit our work to Him and to work as unto Him. Proverbs 16:3 says Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Colossians 3:23 says Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. We encourage you to bring your plans and your lists to the Lord each day, to be diligent yet also to rest in His sovereignty, trusting that He will establish the work that honors Him and knowing that His grace is sufficient even when not everything gets done.
We also lift up the frustration you feel on the train with loud cell phones. It is understandable to feel irritated when others are inconsiderate in a shared space. We are called to pursue peace and to value others above ourselves even in small annoyances. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Philippians 2:3-4 says doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. We pray the Lord gives you patience and a calm spirit in those moments, and that He would also soften the hearts of those around you to be more considerate.
We also hear your concern about nervous TikTok scrolling, the constant up and down that leaves you feeling anxious and unsettled. This kind of endless scrolling can quickly master our time and our peace, and the Lord calls us to steward our minds and our time wisely and to not be brought under the power of anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12 says All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything. Ephesians 5:15-16 says Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise; redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We encourage you to set healthy boundaries with this, to replace anxious scrolling with prayer, with Scripture, with rest, and to seek the peace that only Christ can give.
We pray together now. Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus and we lift up this dear one to you. We ask that you align their heart with your definition of success, that they would seek your kingdom first and commit all their deeds to you. Grant them wisdom to steward their days well, to work diligently for your glory, and to find rest when tasks remain undone, trusting in your perfect provision. Grant them patience and grace on the train and in every crowded place, help them to be a light of your peace and to show love even when others are loud and distracting, and we ask that you would move on the hearts of those who are inconsiderate to be more mindful of others. Lord, we ask you to break the grip of nervous scrolling and anxiety, fill them with your peace that surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and help them to redeem their time and to fix their thoughts on what is true and pure and lovely. Lead them in self-control by your Spirit and draw them closer to you each day. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
