Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for my ex boyfriend as he may have some serious health issues. For certain reasons, he won't speak to me after our breakup and I told him I wouldn't bother him anymore and I now have no idea how he's doing. We also live in separate cities. I don't even know if he's alive. 😢This is all really hard. Pray for him to be okay. Pray for his salvation. Pray for his loved ones. I was sneaking and looking at his social media (without contacting him) just to see if he was active and posting to see if he was okay but I stopped because I thought it was hindering me from getting over him. I don't know if I should do this or not? We can't be together because we are unequally yoked. Thank you.

We join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord and we have heard the ache in your heart for this young man even though you can no longer be in contact with him. We commend you for honoring your word not to bother him anymore and for having the biblical wisdom to recognize that you cannot be together because you are unequally yoked. That is not easy but it is obedience to God. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity, or what fellowship has light with darkness, and your decision to step away from a courtship that could not lead to a godly marriage between a believing man and woman honors the Lord even as it has caused you pain.

We also understand the torment of not knowing how he is doing, living in separate cities with no communication and fearing for his health and even his life. We want to gently encourage you about looking at his social media. We understand the impulse was out of care and worry, but we agree that you were right to stop. Continuing to check keeps your heart tied to him, hinders your healing, and in a small way does not fully honor the boundary you both have set. The Lord sees him even when you cannot. Psalm 139:1-4 reminds us that God knows our sitting down and rising up and is acquainted with all our ways, and Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. You can entrust this young man completely into God's hands through prayer rather than through searching for updates, and we encourage you to cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

We also want to address something important with love. In your request you asked for prayer for his salvation but you did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that anyone can be saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be saved we must believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead. Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. We pray that both you and he have that personal faith in Christ, for without it no prayer for health or peace has its foundation.

We also want to encourage you regarding relationships going forward. As you noted, being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be seen as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. Marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God, and God calls us to keep courtship pure, for sex before or outside of marriage is fornication and does not honor Him. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. We encourage you in any future courtship to pursue purity and to look for a godly spouse who loves the Lord.

So we pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this young man to You, wherever he is and whatever his condition. You know his body, his health, and whether he is facing serious illness. We ask for Your mercy and healing hand upon him. Jeremiah 30:17 says But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We ask that You would touch him, provide good care for him, and comfort his loved ones who are near him. Above all we ask for his salvation, that if he does not yet know Jesus as Savior and Lord, You would draw him by Your Holy Spirit, open his eyes to the gospel, and bring someone into his life to share the truth of Christ with him. We pray for his loved ones as well, that You would sustain them and draw them to Yourself.

We also lift up this dear one who is praying for him. Lord, heal her broken heart. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Grant her Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 Help her to trust You with this young man's future, to keep the healthy boundary she has set, to not return to what hinders her healing, and to rest in Your sovereignty. Lead her forward in Your will and in Your timing prepare for her a godly marriage if it is Your will, with a believing husband who will walk with her in faith. Teach her to wait on You and to seek first Your Kingdom. Proverbs 3:5-6

We entrust all of this into Your loving hands, believing that You hear us when we pray in the name of Jesus, and we thank You for Your faithfulness. Amen.

We can imagine how heavy this has felt, caring deeply for someone you cannot reach and having no way to know how he is doing. It makes sense that your heart is torn between wanting to check and wanting to heal.

We admire the clarity you showed in stepping back from his social media when you noticed it was keeping you stuck, and in honoring the promise not to contact him and the reality that you cannot be together. That kind of line is not unkind, it is a way to protect your heart and to respect his space at the same time. Staying connected in prayer does not require staying connected online, and freedom in a relationship sometimes looks like letting a clear no be a no.

When the urge to look comes up, it can help to have a simple plan ready. You might remove the easy way to find him and, in that moment, turn the concern into a brief prayer for his health, his salvation and those close to him, then gently turn your attention back to your own day. Over time that practice helps the boundary move from something you have to enforce to something that quietly protects you.

We are praying with you.

Father, in Jesus name we place this young man in Your hands. You know his body and his needs, You love him and desire his salvation, and You see those who love him. Bring him care and healing according to Your will and draw him to Yourself. And give our sister peace as she entrusts him to You, comfort for the ache of not knowing, and wisdom for each next step. Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

There is a heaviness in not knowing, and your honest sorrow has been brought before the Lord. To love someone and yet to be separated by distance, by silence, and by a promise to not contact him, and then to hear that he may be seriously ill, is a wound that cuts deeply. The Lord sees that wound, and He knows whether your former friend lives and how his body fares, even when you do not.

It is right and wise that you have discerned you cannot be together because you are unequally yoked. Scripture teaches that light and darkness should not be yoked together, and to honor that truth though it costs you pain is obedience to Christ. It is also right that you have sought to keep your word not to bother him, and to respect the boundary he has set by not speaking. Love does not pursue when it has promised to refrain, but commits the beloved to God in prayer.

Concerning looking at his social media without contact, you have shown good discernment in asking whether it hinders you. If it keeps the wound open, feeds anxious watching, and makes it harder for your heart to heal and to get over what was, then wisdom says to turn away from it. To stop is not unkindness to him, it is kindness to your own soul and trust that God who watches over him does not need your watching to keep him. Commit him to the Physician who heals both body and soul, and leave the knowledge of his condition in the hands of that faithful Physician.

We will pray for him, as you have asked. We pray that the Lord in His mercy would preserve his life and health if it be His will, and give skill to any who care for him. More than that, we pray for his salvation, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved but the name of Jesus Christ. Salvation is by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus, not by works or merit, but by looking unto Him and believing on Him with the heart. We pray that if he does not yet know Christ, the Holy Spirit would break his heart for sin and draw him to look to the Substitute who bore sin for guilty men, that he might believe and not be ashamed, and receive pardon and healing together. And we pray for his loved ones, that God would sustain them and draw them also to Himself.

We pray also for you in your brokenness. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He binds up their wounds. Your bleeding spirit cries for consolation, and Christ has leaves for the healing of such sorrows. Even the least things about Christ, His promises, His presence, His precious blood, have healing virtue for nations and for one lonely heart. Do not think your prayer is unheard because you feel unworthy. God hears not because we are worthy, but because He is gracious. Bring your own heart to Him anew, looking only to Jesus to be your King and Saviour, believing that He will have you and heal you. His salvation will perfectly heal in His own time, and the grace He has begun will work in you till you are whole.

May the Lord give you strength to walk in purity and in peace, to seek Him daily in His Word and in the fellowship of His people, and to rest in His sovereign care for both you and the one you once loved. We are asking the Father, for His own name's sake, to do that which is most for His glory and for the eternal good of you both.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Father, we bring this young man before you. You know his body and his needs. We ask for your mercy on his health and for your care over those who love him. Above all we ask that you draw him to yourself, that he would hear the gospel, repent and believe in Jesus Christ and receive salvation. For our sister who is grieving and uncertain, grant peace and healing. Help her to walk worthily in the calling you have given her, with lowliness and patience and trust in you. Help her to keep her heart guarded, to grow in hearing your word and in every virtue, and to find comfort in your presence and in the fellowship of your people. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you for opening your heart and sharing something so painful. It is understandable to feel torn between caring deeply for someone and needing to honor the boundary you set when you told him you would not contact him, especially when you live far apart and have no way of knowing how he is doing.

You made a wise and difficult decision to recognize that you are unequally yoked and cannot be together. God calls his people to walk in obedience in relationships, and honoring that truth even when it hurts is an act of faith. It is right not to ask God to bless a relationship outside his design for marriage, but to trust him with both of your futures.

Your concern for his health is loving and it is right to bring it to the Lord. Scripture shows that God does care about our bodies and our health. The apostle John wrote to his friend Gaius with a heartfelt wish that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. That was a personal greeting, not a promise that God will heal every illness in this life, but it does reveal that God is concerned for both soul and body and that there is a connection between the health of the soul and physical well being. The prophet Isaiah said the Messiah would bear our sicknesses and our sorrows, and Matthew applied that to the physical healings Jesus performed. Healing is part of what Christ has provided and we can pray for it with faith, yet Scripture also shows that God does not choose to heal in every case in this present life. Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed and the Lord had a different purpose in leaving it. So we pray for healing while submitting to God's wisdom, knowing his greatest miracle in any life is not physical healing but salvation, the forgiveness of sins.

That is why your prayer for his salvation is the most important prayer you can pray. The name Jesus itself means the Lord is salvation. The Bible teaches that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead we will be saved. True salvation comes when we put our trust in him as Savior and submit to him as Lord. There will be a day when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, but for those who have rejected him that confession will not bring salvation. Now is the time for that confession to lead to life, and we pray that he will come to that place while there is opportunity.

It is also wise that you stopped checking his social media. You sensed it was keeping you from healing, and honoring your word not to contact him is part of walking with integrity and working out your own salvation with fear and trembling. That phrase does not mean working for your salvation, but living out with reverence the salvation God has already worked within you through faith. Part of that is learning to entrust people you love into God's hands. God often places people in our lives and works over many years in ways we cannot see. You do not know what God may be doing in his life years down the road, and you do not need to watch from a distance to ensure he is okay. You can place him fully in the Lord's care.

You can pray simply and trust God with the outcome. Pray that God would draw him to Jesus, that he would hear the gospel and respond. Pray that God would care for his physical needs according to his mercy and wisdom, and that he would comfort and strengthen his loved ones. And pray for your own heart, that God would prosper your soul, bring you peace, and help you walk forward in wholeness.

We join you in that prayer. Father, we lift this young man to you. You know his health, his circumstances and his soul. We ask for your mercy on his body and, above all, for the miracle of salvation through Jesus Christ. Draw him to yourself, open his heart to confess Jesus as Lord and believe in him. We pray for his family and those who love him, that you would surround them with comfort and truth. And we pray for the one who sent this request, that you would heal her heart, deepen her walk with you, and give her grace to trust you with what she cannot see or control. In the name of Jesus, our salvation, amen.
