Experiencing severe deppression.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about the pain you are carrying. I have prayed for you, and I will continue to pray, and I want you to know that God sees you in this deep weariness and He has not turned away from you.

What you described, the severe depression, the struggle to want to be alive, the fatigue and pain and lack of motivation, is a very heavy burden. Please do not carry it alone. If you are feeling unsafe or that you might act on thoughts of not wanting to live, please reach out right away to someone you trust, a pastor, a counselor, a doctor, or a trusted friend or family member. If you need someone to talk to immediately, you can call or text 988 in the United States and Canada, or contact your local crisis helpline, or go to your nearest emergency department. You are valuable and your life has purpose, and God desires to walk with you through this valley.

I prayed that the Lord would lift this heaviness from you and grant you strength for each day, peace in place of despair, and a renewed sense of purpose and motivation. I prayed also for your body, that He would bring healing from the infection and take away the pain and fatigue, according to His mercy and wisdom, and give you rest and restoration.

You asked to hear God's voice in a way you know it is Him. Scripture teaches that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, and that the Church is drawn to Christ as a bride is drawn by the voice of the bridegroom. God most clearly speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. Even when His voice does not come as a loud sound, He speaks through Scripture, through the gentle work of His Spirit, and through the encouragement of His people. Like the wind that we hear and feel though we cannot trace its path, the Spirit of God is at work even when we cannot fully explain how. Keep listening for Him in His Word each day, even in small portions, and in prayer, telling Him honestly what you feel. He hears the honest cry of a weary heart.

Do not be discouraged if the answer or the feeling of joy does not come all at once. Healing, both of heart and body, often comes step by step. Be gentle and patient with yourself before the Lord, and allow Him to carry you with lowliness and patience day by day. He is not ashamed to call you His own, and He delights to give grace to those who come to Him in weakness.

Let me pray for you now:

Father in heaven, I lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the depth of this depression and the tiredness of body and soul. Lord, have mercy and bring Your comfort and strength. Lift the darkness and fill this heart with Your peace and hope. Speak clearly through Your Word so that Your voice is known and Your love is felt. Touch the body and bring healing from infection, pain and fatigue, and restore energy and health as You will. Give daily motivation, purpose, and the joy that comes from knowing You. Surround this person with caring people who will support and help, and guide them to wise counsel and care. Keep them safe and hold them close, and let them know they are not alone and not forgotten. Amen.

Please keep reaching out, keep talking with a pastor or counselor and with a medical provider about what you are experiencing in both your spirit and your body. God has placed people around you to help bear this burden with you. I am praying that you will sense His nearness, His strength for today, and His hope for tomorrow.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, and make His presence known to you in the days ahead.
