Expecting and praying for a new job

Disciple of Prayer
I failed my Performance Improvement Plan and through a mutual decision, I am now seeking my next job. I know Jesus has bigger plans for me. This site has lifted me up over the past few months and I ask for your prayers and support again. In Jesus name.

We hear your heart, and we stand with you in this season of transition, trusting that the Lord is indeed leading you into His greater purpose. It can be disheartening to face the end of one chapter, especially when it comes with the weight of a performance plan not met, but we believe this is not an ending, it is a redirection. The Lord often closes doors not to limit us, but to guide us toward the path He has prepared. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, "A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps." You are not without direction; you are being led.

We also want to encourage you to reflect on this time as an opportunity for growth. Failure is not the end, it is a teacher. James 1:2-4 says, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." The Lord is refining you, preparing you for what lies ahead. This season of seeking is not wasted; it is part of your testimony.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, lifting him up in this time of change. Lord, You see his heart, his desire to walk in Your will, and his trust in Your plans. We ask that You open the right doors for him, doors that align with Your purpose and provide for his needs. Give him clarity in his search, wisdom in his decisions, and peace in the waiting. Remove any fear or doubt, and replace it with confidence in Your provision. Father, we also ask that You use this season to draw him closer to You, deepening his faith and reliance on Your strength. May he see Your hand at work in every detail, and may this transition be a testimony of Your faithfulness. We pray for favor in interviews, connections with godly employers, and opportunities that honor You. Above all, Lord, let him walk in the fullness of what You have for him, knowing that You are his Provider and Guide. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

As you move forward, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word. Psalm 37:5 says, "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this." Keep your eyes on Him, not on the uncertainty of the job market. Seek Him first, and He will direct your steps. We also encourage you to surround yourself with believers who can speak life into you, pray with you, and hold you accountable. Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance."

Lastly, we want to remind you that your worth is not defined by your employment status. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and your identity is found in Christ alone. This season is temporary, but God’s love for you is eternal. Keep your heart open to His leading, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). You are not alone in this journey, we are praying for you, and more importantly, the Lord is with you every step of the way.

We've been thinking about you since reading your request. Walking away from a job under those circumstances carries a particular weight, even when the decision is mutual, even when you're holding onto hope. There's a bruised feeling that settles in after a performance plan doesn't go the way anyone wanted, and you deserve space to acknowledge that honestly before the Lord.

What strikes us is your clear-eyed trust: "I know Jesus has bigger plans for me." That's not a platitude you tacked on, it sounds like something you've been living with these past few months while this site lifted you up. Hold onto that, because it's true. The end of this role isn't evidence that God miscalculated. It's a transition, not a verdict on your worth or your future.

One practical thought: in seasons of job searching, it can help to identify one or two trusted people who will speak honestly into your next steps, not just cheerlead, but ask hard questions about fit, strengths, and patterns you might be too close to see. You don't need a whole committee. A single wise voice can make the waiting feel less lonely and the direction clearer.

We're praying with you now.

Lord Jesus, our brother comes to you with open hands, no job, but also no pretense. You see the sting of how things ended, and you know the pressure to land somewhere quickly. Give him steady peace while he waits. Lead him toward work that fits the gifts you've given, with people who will value him fairly. Open a door that others might overlook, and give him the clarity to recognize it when it appears. Provide for every practical need in the meantime. We ask this in your name, trusting your timing and your love. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

🙏Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The trial you now endure, this closed door of employment, is no sign that God has forsaken you, but rather that He is leading you by a way you did not know. You failed that plan, and by mutual decision you depart; yet what is that but the Lord turning your captivity, even as He did for Job? Satan may have desired to sift you, to drive you to despair, but your resolve to trust Jesus for bigger plans tells me that grace is sustaining you. It is written, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him." Your present loss may be the very means by which He prepares you for double blessing, for His purpose is invariable and His heart is set upon your good.

Do not imagine that your career must now gather dust, or that your gifts are buried. The chief business of a Christian is not this or that position, but to speak on God's behalf. You have yet to speak for Him, in patience, in faith, in joyful reliance upon Christ alone. When Job's earthly glory was stripped away, he did not charge God foolishly. He clung to the Redeemer who lives, and in that clinging he baffled the tempter. So now, your silent trust amid rejection is a sermon to principalities and powers. I charge you to watch for the new birth of hope in your own heart, and nurse it tenderly. The Word is ever fresh; let it be new corn to you each day.

And remember this: Job's captivity was turned when he prayed for his friends. While you seek employment, pour out your tears before God, not with bitterness, but with intercession for others. Pray for those who enforced that plan, for those who compete with you, for the whole church seeking daily bread. Let your tears be the potent rhetoric that moves the heart of the Father. He will not leave you in ashes forever. I am confident that He who began a good work in you is of one mind; none can turn Him. So go forward, not as one defeated, but as a pilgrim whose path is marked by the footprints of the Crucified. We shall pray with you and for you, expecting to hear of a door swung wide by the nail-pierced hand.

The calamity of losing a position is not the true calamity. The true calamity is to meet that loss with an impatient or a blaspheming tongue. You see this very plot in the case of the blessed Job. The devil stripped him of his goods, his servants, and his children, yet he did not achieve his purpose, for Job did not curse God. So the tempter pressed further, even using his wife to say, "Say some word against the Lord, and die." See the treachery plotted through the wife, an evil communication meant to corrupt good manners in the hour of affliction. Hear this and take warning. The loss of a job is a test. Will it be a loss, or will you make it a gain? It rests with you. If you give thanks to God, if you do not wail bitterly, if you utter the words of Job, "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away," then what seemed a loss becomes a great gain. You are the master of injuring or not injuring yourself. That wicked demon strives not to make you poor, for he knows that is nothing, but through poverty to compel you to utter some blasphemy or to despair. If you refuse him this, he has accomplished nothing; indeed, you have been benefited.

Why do you account Job blessed? For his camels and flocks, or for his word, "The Lord gave, the Lord hath taken away"? God permitted that trial, as He permits many things, not to destroy you but to make you approved. The thing that gave new luster to Job was that the devil was in arms against him. If God is for you, who can be against you? Even those who seem to devise mischief become the procurers of crowns. The world, a former employer, the uncertainty of the future, these are not against you if you stand with God. They become the very means of your salvation and glory. Bear this stroke thankfully. If you are accused falsely, or if a circumstance wounds your pride, bear it patiently; pray for those involved. If you do this, you suffer for Christ and seize a reward. But if you curse, if you are impatient and complain against God’s providence, you suffer loss and are sentenced, not because of the affliction, but because of your weak purpose. You say you know Jesus has bigger plans. Then prove that knowledge by strength of soul. If your soul is strong, nothing will appear grievous. The Lord who walked upon the sea as upon a pavement can turn this seeming disaster into your firmest pavement, if only you walk upon it with thanks and faith and do not sink through cowardice.

The news of your job ending, even by mutual decision, still carries a real weight. It is not simply a career move; it is a severing, and with it often comes a flood of questions about purpose, provision, and what God is doing. When you are in the middle of it, it can feel as though your whole life has been shaken, like the very structure of your days and the means of your provision have crumbled in a single moment.

We often assume that hardship is a direct, precise judgment, a simple equation where suffering equals hidden sin. That was the entire argument of Job’s friends. They studied his ruins and concluded he must be a hypocrite who simply needed to get right with God so everything would be okay. But they were ignorant of a far deeper reality. Behind the scenes, a divine evaluation had been made entirely apart from any sin on Job’s part. God had boasted of Job’s upright character, and Satan’s challenge was that Job only served God for the benefits, for the hedge of protection and prosperity that surrounded him. The question was never about Job’s failure, but about the authenticity of his faith. Would Job love God and trust him when the blessings were stripped away? That hidden purpose in heaven was something Job and his friends could not see while they argued in the ashes.

A performance improvement plan at work suggests you were being measured against a standard and found wanting. It is so easy to let that professional judgment seep into your soul and accuse you of being a spiritual failure. Bildad’s voice echoes in those moments, insisting that if you were truly innocent, God would not have cast you away. But this is a false accusation. God’s dealings with his own are not a tidy spreadsheet of rewards and punishments. He often permits seasons of emptying to bring us to the end of our own strength, a place where we must rely on him alone. That which the world sees as a career setback, being shaken by the neck and made a target, God sees as a refining process, a clearing away of secondary props so that our foundation is laid bare.

It is completely right and human to cry out for understanding. Job desperately wanted a hearing, an explanation. He reached forward, backward, and sideways trying to perceive God’s work and could not find him. What is so remarkable is that even in his deep, miserable confusion, when he felt God had shattered him and set him up as a target, he still uttered that declaration of wrenching faith: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” He did not understand the “why,” but he staggered forward clinging to the “Who.” He knew his salvation was not in his portfolio or his next position, but in his Redeemer.

Let this season silence the voice of the accuser that ties your spiritual worth to your employment status. Your value has not diminished one cent. The Lord has a far bigger plan for you than a career track, and sometimes he clears the track you are on to build something you could not have imagined. The fear of the Lord is true wisdom, not a flawless resume. Your prayer and your confession are right: Jesus holds the future. Do not despise this correction or give way to weariness. Instead, let it drive you to the rest that comes from knowing your life is in his hands. Keep drawing near to him. We are praying for you.

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand with you in prayer as you seek God’s next step for your life. It takes courage to trust His plan, especially when the path ahead feels uncertain, and we admire your faith in believing Jesus has bigger things in store for you.

As the days unfold, we continue to lift you up, asking the Lord to open doors of opportunity that align with His purpose for you. May He provide clarity, peace, and favor as you pursue new employment, and may each step forward remind you of His faithfulness. If He has already answered this prayer in ways you’ve seen or yet to recognize, we would love to celebrate that victory with you. If not, we stand ready to intercede again—just let us know how we can keep praying.

Thank you for letting us walk this journey alongside you. May God’s grace sustain you, His wisdom guide you, and His love surround you as you seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray all these things in Jesus’ Name.
