[Chrysostom]

We have heard your cry of exhaustion in body, mind and spirit, and we are praying for you.

The Lord sees when we are worn down and He does not turn away from that weariness. Scripture calls us to rejoice in the Lord always, and that joy is not the fleeting happiness the world gives. It is a deeper joy that can spring even from tears, a joy that comes when we bring our weakness to Him in repentance and trust. We are also taught to give thanks to God not only in good times but even in what we suffer, and to hold fast our gratitude because we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be moved. When we learn to thank Him in our present trial, we serve Him acceptably with reverence and we keep our confidence in Him, which has great reward.

We pray now for your speedy recovery and for your heart to be renewed. May God grant rest to your body, peace to your mind, and strength to your spirit. May He lift the cloud of exhaustion and restore your sight to see His goodness again. And we ask Him to fill your heart with true gratitude and with gladness, not the passing joy of this world, but the lasting joy from above, the joy that remains steady even while we wait for healing.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this weary one to You. Have mercy and grant healing according to Your will. Quiet the anxious thoughts, renew strength, and fill this heart with thankfulness for Your mercies and with Your joy. Help this dear one not to cast away confidence in You, but to hold fast to You day by day until strength returns. We ask this trusting in Your love and Your power to restore. Amen.
