We have heard your cry concerning this excruciating pain under the ball of your foot, calloused and sore for many many years, with the same treatment bringing no lasting relief and with the prospect that even surgery may not help. We have heard also the added burden of out of pocket cost laid upon you when the dealers would not answer their phones nor return your calls, and we know how heavy it is when bodily suffering and hard treatment from others meet together.
We bring both burdens before the Lord Jesus, who was made a perfect Savior through suffering. He was not made more perfect in character, for He was always perfect, perfect God and perfect man, but He was made officially perfect as the Captain of our salvation through His sufferings, that He might be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. He knows what pain is, what grief is, what weariness is, and He looks upon you with a mind deeply sympathetic and a heart quick to relieve. Your weepings and your long endurance are not hidden from Him.
Scripture places healing and pardon in happy conjunction, and both are bestowed upon the Lord's people. From a pardoning God there are such mercies and blessings to be received that the weak in heart find their spirits revive. We would have you look first to Him who is great in justice and great as Savior, and bow in penitence before Him, for He does not grant forgiveness until we honor His justice and seek His mercy in Christ. O you who are now sick and worn, ask to be forgiven and healing will come from the pardoning hand, whether it be healing in this body according to His wise will, or sustaining grace to bear the pain until He calls you to where pain shall be no more. Do not go blundering on without first seeking His touch, for there is a contact to be established between the soul and Christ by simple faith, and when He takes us by the hand He lifts us up.
We pray for you now. O Lord Jesus Christ, perfect through sufferings and mighty to save, look upon this suffering foot and this long affliction. Thou who didst heal the lame and the maimed when great multitudes were cast at Thy feet, lay Thy healing hand upon this pain by the ball of the foot, ease this excruciating soreness, and grant wisdom to those who give treatment, that what is done may be for true good. If it be Thy will, grant relief without surgery, or make surgery effectual if it must be undertaken, and give patience and perseverance in holiness through this trial. We ask also, Lord, Thou God of justice, to move those dealers who have dealt so poorly to do what is right, to answer and to compensate what was fairly spent out of pocket when help was withheld. Let justice and mercy meet, and give our friend peace in waiting upon Thee, for our extremity is Thy opportunity. Keep this soul by Thy divine gift of eternal life, which Thou givest permanently and wilt not revoke, and let the new life within be sustained until the day of Christ.
May the Lord hear your prayer, forgive your sins for His name's sake, heal your body as seems good in His sight, and keep you from departing from Him, that you may tell to others what a dear Savior you have found. Amen.
